The young Pines Twin's birthday has come once again. Which also means the end of summer as well.

It was early in the morning, the both of them were still asleep, and the light from the sun shone through their window. Then out of no where...

BLEEP! BLEEP! BLEEP!

Mabel instantly woke up to her alarm with a smile on her face and quickly rushed over to her calendar.

"It's our birthday Dipper!" Mabel screamed with joy, "We're gonna turn fourteen!!!"

Dipper groaned and buried his head into his pillow, "Five more minutes Stan... the kids at school won't even notice I'm gone..." he muttered.

"What?" Mabel asked.

Dipper realized what he had said and continued to "sleep talk", "Er- I mean, Mabel turn off that alarm!"

"Oops, right." Mabel said with a smile.

BLEEP! BLEEP! BLEE-

Mabel got on top of Dipper's bed and started bouncing up and down, "Come on Dipper! Wake up! It's our birthday!!!"

Dipper threw his pillow at her and looked at his sister, "Mabel I'm glad it's our birthday and all, but that also means you have to go back home again."

Mabel stopped bouncing at the realization, but decided to stay at the positive side of things, "I know Dipper, but that's exactly why we have to start this day right. This day might be sour sweet, but I promise you we're gonna have so much fun!"

Dipper smiled and got out of bed, "Race you to the kitchen!" he said, and sped off.

"Hey! No fair, you cheated!" Mabel yelled after her brother as she ran off to catch him.

The twins birthday party was just as fun and memorable as last years. There was music, games, and best of all, they got to spend it all with each other.

But as the sun started setting and people started leaving, the end of summer was coming nearer.

Soon, the only people left were Stan, Ford, Soos, Wendy, Candy, Grenda, and the birthday twins.

"Alright kids," Stan announced, "the party's over now! It's time for Mabel to start packing."

Ford came up to Dipper and whispered into his ear, "Dipper go help your sister pack up so you can at least have a little bit more time left with her."

Dipper nodded and followed her up to the attic. Mabel got out her suitcase and started shoving her clothes and scrapbook supplies.

"Hey... so um, do you need any help packing?" Dipper asked.

"Nope!" Mabel said cheerfully, "I got it!"

"Ok... Hey, maybe if you finish quickly we could go on one more small adventure together." Dipper suggested.

"Sorry Dipper, but I can't be late for my bus back home." Mabel said.

"Or- or maybe we could quickly get some pancakes from Greasy's Diner?"

"Dipper were you not listening? I can't."

"Oh! Or maybe we can-"

"DIPPER!" Mabel interrupted.

Dipper flinched at the sudden outburst, bit his lip, and looked down at the floor in defeat.

Mabel sighed and walked up to her brother, "Dipper, I'm sorry I yelled at you. But you have to accept that today is the last day of summer. I have to leave."

Tears started to drip onto the floor and Dipper sniffed, "Why does summer have to end. Why can't it just last forever?"

"Dipper, Dipper," Mabel said giving him a hug and patted his back, "you told me yourself, summer can't last forever. We have to grow up."

"But why do I have to stay here?! I want to go with you! And see mom and dad again!" Dipper cried.

"Dipper I can't help you with all this, I completely understand how you feel, but I'm not the one who's stuck."

"And how come you seem so calm about this?!"

"BECAUSE I KNOW I'LL SEE YOU AGAIN DIPPER!" Mabel shouted.

Dipper froze.

Mabel took in a deep breath and sighed, "Dipper, I'm just as upset as you are, but I realized that summer's gonna come again and I'll be able to see you again as well."

Dipper sniffed, "Yeah, I guess you're right."

"Now come on, bro-bro you can cry all you want at the bus stop." Mabel said jokingly.

Dipper laughed a bit, "Heh, yeah."

They walked down the stairs and came outside where everyone was at.

"Are you ready Mabel?" Ford asked.

"Yup!" she replied.

"Wait, I forgot something in the attic!" Dipper said, "You guys go on ahead, I'll get it and catch up with you guys."

"Alright, if you say so Dipper. Come on, let's go everyone!" Stan announced.

They all started walking and Dipper watched them go until they were out of sight. He walked into the shack, went to his room, and sat on his bed.

He closed his eyes and hugged his knees, "I can't say goodbye..." he thought, "Not again."
