Chapter 29

Twelfth grade was a long year and it was tough, but Mabel did it and graduated. Her parents were so proud of her but she didn't want to hear it, she had to start planning her escape.

All summer she scouted out her plan to leave Piedmont. Every day she packed her things little by little so her parents wouldn't notice the stuff missing.

Finally, the day had come. It was August thirty-first and Mabel was ready.

She woke up at seven o' clock sharp and her plan began. She grabbed all her luggage and the last minute things she needed and climbed out the window.

She was finally out and she smiled, "I love you Mom and Dad, but what you said about Dipper is unforgivable." she whispered, "Maybe I'll forgive you some day, but now is not the day."

Mabel ran and didn't look back. The bus to Gravity Falls was leaving in thirty minutes and she couldn't miss it.

Finally she made it and got onto the bus. She placed her stuff down and sat, "Alright Dipper," she thought in her head, "I'm coming home."

Dipper woke up at seven o' clock sharp. He was still tired, but it just felt right.

He ran down the stairs and met Stan and Ford in the kitchen, "IT'S OUR BIRTHDAY!!!" he yelled.

"Yes it is Dipper!" Ford replied.

"Geez Dipper, you're sounding more and more like your sister every day." Stan joked.

"Ha ha, as if I could ever top Mabel's craziness." Dipper laughed, "But I'm just so excited cause today is going to be the best birthday ever!"

"Yes, I'm sure you're excited that Mabel's coming." Ford said, "But just remember that she might not come until really late."

"I know that, and I'm going to be patient." Dipper replied calmly.

For the whole day, everyone was asking Dipper if he was excited and he would just reply with a smile and a nod.

After dinner, Dipper decided it was time to wait for his sister at the bus stop. He went to the bus stop and waited at the bench.

Dipper waited.

And waited.

And waited.

The sky was now starting to turn into colors of red and orange.

"Mabel you promised." Dipper whisper to himself.

He continued waiting, but as the sun went down, so did Dipper's hope.

Soon the stars were up and Mabel had still not arrived yet. Dipper looked into the night sky and saw the Big Dipper constellation, and for a split second, a shooting star zoomed past the constellation.

Dipper smiled, "I understand Mabel." He said, "But I'll still be waiting for you."

Dipper got up from the bench and started walking away. Suddenly a loud screech was heard behind him and Dipper covered his ears because of the loud noise.

Dipper turned around and saw an eighteen year old girl with brown chocolate eyes and long bouncy hair.

"Mabel?" he asked.

"Dipper!" Mabel cried with joy.

Dipper ran to her and gave her a big hug, "I knew you'd come." he said.

Mabel hugged him too and then pushed him away, "I'm so sorry I took so long, there was a lot of traffic and then we tried to take a short cut, but then a herd of sheep-"

"Wait." Dipper cut her off, "Save the stories for later."

Mabel smiled, "Ok."

"Now let's go, I'm not the only one who's excited to see you again."

Dipper and Mabel walked to the Mystery Shack together, and when they got there, there was fairy lights surrounding the area and there was a big sign that read, "WELCOME BACK MABEL!"

Mabel gasped and Dipper smiled, "Welcome home Sis." he said.

Mabel gave him a big hug and she ran to go say hi to the others.

Dipper joined Mabel with everyone and they all chatted together, getting to reunite with everyone from the town.

The party went on until Stan and Ford announced it was time to call it a night.

Everyone left and Dipper and Mabel sat on the couch outside, staring at the night sky.

"Tomorrow our new life begins Dipper." Mabel said with a smile, "Ready to head into the unknown?"

Dipper smiled, "Nope."

"Let's do it."
