a reminder of what we had
love itself
beautiful and grandbut like gum
all chewed up
it loses taste
like old archaic words
buried in dictionaries
time forgot to recallthe word shrunk to a plea
of what i used to call safety
beyond the stupidity
it became a word of pretend
that we both knew in the first place
