Double Trouble

  

"So...you've been hiding for about a month. And Tess is pregnant and you two are engaged." Sean repeated as he sat with James in the lobby.

Sean had got James to calm down a little and had made him explained the whole story.

"I guess I know why she had to stay quiet but I feel kind of left out." Sean remarked being over dramatic.

James smiled weakly." I know. But we couldn't tell anyone."

"Don't worry. I get it. I would do the same if it was the same situation with Mark."

They had been in lobby for about an hour. Marcia and her boyfriend were there. Sean and Mark were also there. And of course James.

It warmed James heart to know that they were never truly alone when Tess and him were hidding. They had all these wonderful people that proved they would be there in the good or the bad.

"So when did you propose?" Sean asked.

"Um...like...two days ago. But she actually proposed to me first."

"That bitch. That sounds like something she would do." Sean commented." And when did she pop the question?"

"Like a month ago. It was right after she told me she was pregnant. She invited me to dinner at her apartment and when I got there she looked gorgeous. She proposed and then we ate and spent all night talking."

"Wow. I would of never thought she was so romantic. That's how you know she is in love with you. "

"Me neither." Marcia added. All three laughed.

"Family of Tess Scali."

Everyone in the lobby stood up as the doctor came in.

"Is everyone here related to the patient?" The doctor asked kind of laughing.

"Well he's her fiancee and father of the baby. So....."Sean said pushing James forward  with his foot.

"Come right over here sir." The doctor walked to the hallway beginning were they couldn't be heard.

"Ok. So Mrs. Scali is fine. She had some minor injuries but all were taken in care just fine. I will prescribe some medication that shouldn't be that strong for the babies but enough to help her."

James thought he hadn't heard right. Maybe he was still in shock or possibly just confused.

"How about our baby?" James asked.

"Your babies are fine. They had a slow heartbeat when they got here but we took care of it right away and they are stable now. The bleeding was caused by the accident but it wasn't a sign of miscarriage. So you don't have to worry about it."

James stayed with his mouth wide open as he heard the word "babies" once again. One time, it could be passed as a mistake. But twice, it was definitely a red flag.

"Excuse me. I don't know if I heard your right but ....did you just say.....babies?"

"Yes, Mr. Bond. Did you not know she was pregnant with twins?"

"No. Her doctor never told us this."

"Well in this case it is possible that she couldn't detect it since on twin could be hidding behind the other. But now they have moved making it easy for us to see them."

James covered his mouth with his hands. He realized what this meant. He wouldn't be only getting one baby but two. And  Tess was fine. He couldn't be more happy than now.
