I'm actually doing an essay/article for one of my courses, about the economic exploitation of personal and societal politics on social media. A lot of the points you made, like social media being the platform where people sell and cultivate their images now, support my thesis. What's the premise of the essay?

Basically, that people (influencers/celebrities/whatever) use political situations in the world to support their own agenda, raise their own popularity and clout, with the end goal of an economic gain instead of staying helping the actual cause

I really also want to include the whole aspect of people having power when they shouldn't have it (i.e. same people as above) because they haven't earned power for that specific thing and their opinion should not matter any more than anyone else's
