Kawanishi X FEM!reader

A/N: this is a completely different story from my other Kawanishi oneshot from earlier in the book, just so y'all know.

You loved snowboarding, it was your favorite thing to do during winter time. You had gone on a trip with your best friend, Taichi and his volleyball friends since you were the manager of their team.

You had a crush on your best friend, sounds cliche right? But you did, and he was everything to you. Sadly, you noticed him eyeing a beautiful long blonde haired girl with gorgeous light ocean eyes that sparkled like glitter. Her skin was fair and smooth, she had a light layer of freckles on her nose and cheeks, but no acne. It hurt but you wanted him to be happy so you encouraged him to go ask her out and stuff. But he was "Waiting for the right time" (His own words). However, now that you both were in the mountains during this winter break with Taichi and his friends, she wasn't here to distract your best friend so he was basically all yours besides his friends.

He knew how to ski, and had been doing it as long as you've been snowboarding. You both were on top of a mountain, a blue square route to be exact, and decided to race down.

"Last one pays for dinner tonight" You smirked. He rolled his eyes and put the ski goggles over his eyes.

"Yeah yeah stop acting like your gonna win"

"But it's the truth"

"We'll see about that, y/n" He shot back. The rest of the team had decided to go ahead of you both then meet you guys at the bottom in the lodge. You both got ready, then you counted down.

"3, 2, 1, GO" and you both took off down the mountain. You were turning a little to keep yourself from going too fast and losing control, he was doing the same thing. You kept a fast pace, him right beside you. Soon you stopped turning for a second and pulled ahead of him by a couple of feet, then started turning again to stop yourself from losing control. Soon the lodge came into view and you sped up, Taichi was right behind you. Once you got to the bottom, you turned your board abruptly and came to a full stop, making you the winner of this race.

"HAHA, SUCKS TO SUCK TAICHI" You lifted the goggles from your face and pulled down the bottom of your eye while sticking your tongue out. He sighed then pulled off the goggles from his face and let them rest on his helmet.

"11th year in a row and I'm still paying for something" He said. You laughed then took out one leg of your snowboard. Slowly you glided to the lift.

"C'mon guys, we still have time for one more run before we have to get dinner" You gestured. They followed you, and you all headed to the ski lift.

You had all gotten ramen for dinner and headed to the hotel. You couldn't sleep so you decided to go walk out and admire the night sky. You had your jacket on, beanie, and snow boots. When you got out there, you found a wooden bench and sat down on it. As you admired the stars, you couldn't help but think if everyone else is liking the trip. I mean yeah they all knew how to ski or snowboard but you did kinda drag them to the mountains saying that this was a great way to spend vacation. You sighed, feeling a little guilt. It's different if you just brought Taichi because he had been doing this with you for 11 years now, but you dragged the whole team. Still feeling guilty, you got up and went inside the hotel again. As you walked down the hall to your room, you lost yourself in your thoughts. While you turned the corner, you bumped into something.

"I'm sorry" You said as you looked up. When you looked up, you saw his ginger orange hair and small grey eyes. "Oh Taichi, what're you doing here?"

"I should be asking you that, y/n. It's not safe for a girl to be walking around at 10 pm," He sternly lectured you. You sighed and waved your hands.

"I know I know I just... couldn't sleep" you said out of embarrassment.

"C'mon, I'll walk you to your room" He sighed then grabbed your hand and you guys started walking. He never let go of your hand, and squeezed it a few times as you walked. Soon you arrived at you room, you opened the door and he stayed out.

"Alright I'll see you tomorrow, Y/n" He said and turned to walk away. Before he got away, you whipped a hand out and grabbed his wrist.

"W-wait. Can you... can you stay with me? Like we used to do when we were kids?" You asked with a smile, blush covering your face. You knew it was wrong, since he was already interested in another girl. You guys basically acted like a couple without the kissing and touching stuff, but you both had slept together before and did since you were kids. He nodded and stepped inside, taking off his boots and leaving them next to the door. You did the same and also took off your snow gear and jacket.

You went to change into a t-shirt and pajama pants, he was already in joggers and a t-shirt so he decided to just sleep in instead of going to his room to change. When you finished, you saw him already in the bed reading something on his phone. You jumped in and snuggled next to him, planting your face into his chest. He smelled clean, like rain pouring down during a thunderstorm. He chuckled a little bit and you perked your head up to see what he was laughing about. He showed you his phone, on it was a picture of you and him when you were 8 or 9. You were both holding onto each other, sleeping peacefully. Drool was coming out of his mouth and your hair was a total mess. You laughed and he put his phone down.

"Just like when we were kids" He said.

"Yep" You replied, snuggling closer to him. He wrapped his arms around you, letting himself relax. Soon he fell asleep, but you were still awake because you still weren't falling asleep. You turned around without waking him up, causing yourself to become spooned by the 6 foot middle blocker.

It had been an hour since that, but you still couldn't fall asleep for some reason. You turned back around to face him, his face had fallen into a peaceful and softened expression. His hair fringe was falling over his eyes a bit, his breathing was soft and controlled. You couldn't help but admire him. You lifted your hand up and moved the hair away from his closed eyes, just for it to fall onto them again. You cupped his cheek and observed him.

"You know something Taichi?" you whispered to the sleeping figure "I wish I could tell you that I love you so much, and have since we were 12 years old. But I see the way you look at her." Tears threatened your eyes. "That still won't stop my feelings from loving you and seeing you as more than my best friend. I really wish you could be mine and I know that just seems crazy to you." You chuckled slightly, tears started falling down, "It's just... I can't shake you out of my head and it hurts so much when I see you talking to her and flashing rare smiles you barely gift to anyone..."

"If only you knew what you did to me, Taichi Kawanishi"
