July 18th, [ pt 2 ]
The elevator doors swished open, and everyone followed M'gann as she darted forward to reveal a striking red, almond-shaped bio-ship. "Cute, but not exactly streamlined," Wally commented, the first to share his thoughts on the peculiar-looking vessel.
Amanda refrained from commenting. Judging without knowing wasn't her style, but keeping quiet was hard. She didn't want to risk rubbing M'gann the wrong way. "It's at rest, silly. I'll wake it up," M'gann assured, gesturing with a wave of her hand. Instantly, the bio-ship transformed, growing larger and spinning around, revealing its door and ramp.
Without hesitation, Amanda sprinted towards the bio-ship, her excitement palpable. Squealing like a child, as she dashed up the ramp, eager to explore. Her exuberance was infectious, and one by one, the others followed her lead, boarding the bio-ship.
As she strolled through the bio-ship, enthusiasm was plastered across her face. She couldn't contain her excitement, knowing her friend owned her very own spaceship. Once inside, Amanda marveled as the interior transformed, creating multiple seats for the teens. "This is cool!" she exclaimed joyously, promptly securing a spot at the front alongside Superboy and Kaldur.
The seat belts snugly fastened around them as the bio-ship commenced its ascent out of the cave. "Incredible," remarked Robin in awe. Wally echoed his sentiment, but with a humorous turn. "She sure is," he beamed, then, noticing what he had said, and corrected himself hastily, "I mean the ship, which, like all ships, is a 'she'." He chuckled, trying to play down his previous comment.
As they conversed at the back of the ship, Superboy, Kaldur, and Amanda delved into their own discussion. "I may not have psychic powers, but I can guess what you're thinking. You overreacted, and you don't know how to apologize. Just say sorry," Kaldur advised, recognizing the struggle Superboy faced in controlling his temper.
Amanda empathized with the boy, having struggled with anger herself. She underwent therapy and dedicated a lot of effort to become a hero in training. "Apologizing isn't hard, and M'gann is the nicest. She'll accept it, I promise," Amanda reassured him, offering a friendly pat on his shoulder. However, he seemed to ignore Amanda and Kaldur's advice, turning his head away without acknowledgment.
"He'll come around," Robin whispered to the green-skinned girl, attempting to reassure her about the earlier incident. "He doesn't seem to like me much," the Martian frowned. Amanda sympathized with the girl's concerns. She was initially wary of the boy, who exuded anger and brooding behavior, but Amanda was persistent; she aimed to foster friendship among all her roommates.
"You guys remember he has super hearing, right?" Wally interjected, prompting everyone to look at Superboy, who wore a scowl. "Hey, how 'bout showing us a little Martian shape-shifting?" Robin suggested, trying to shift the topic away from the mind-reading debate. The suggestion brought an instant smile to M'gann's face. She stood up, catching everyone's attention, including Amanda's, and effortlessly morphed into Amanda, Robin, and Wally in their hero costumes.
