Balancing on one foot, Amanda focused on perfecting her scorpion kick, knowing that limbering up would be crucial for the upcoming class with Black Canary. As she stretched, her attention shifted to the air hockey game between Kaldur and Wally. The boys engaged in a competitive back-and-forth until Wally, amusingly wielding a banana, made the winning shot.

The zeta-tube activation interrupted their activities, and Amanda's excitement spiked as Superboy entered the room. His face displayed an unmistakable hint of anger.

Concerned, Amanda approached Superboy, asking, "Are you okay?" She genuinely wanted to comfort him, but he brushed past her without acknowledging her presence. Annoyed by the rude response, she couldn't help feeling a bit frustrated by his lack of acknowledgment.

"Ready for training, everyone?" Black Canary's voice echoed through the room, interrupting Amanda and Superboy's interaction. M'gann, thrilled to see Black Canary and her uncle, J'onn, enthusiastically rushed over to greet them. J'onn affectionately placed a hand on his niece's shoulder, "M'gann, I was in the neighborhood, so I thought I'd see how you were adjusting." Amanda found the gesture sweet, appreciating the care and concern shown by M'gann's uncle.

"A few bumps, but I'm learning."

"That's all I can ask."

"Stick around, class is in session," Black Canary declared, halting Superboy from walking away. The floor illuminated, signaling the beginning of their training. Amanda felt a surge of excitement, eager for the action that awaited.

"I consider it an honor to be your teacher. I'll throw a lot at you, everything I've learned from my own mentors—uh!" Black Canary paused, struggling to remove her jacket. Amanda, curious about the bandages on her shoulder, inquired, "What happened?"

"The job," Black Canary replied, succinctly sharing the source of her injuries. Amanda accepted the response, acknowledging that sometimes details were better left unexplored.

"Now, combat is about controlling conflict, putting the battle on your terms. You should always be acting, never reacting," Black Canary instructed, and Amanda nodded in agreement. Her approach to fighting was swift and aggressive, relying on speed rather than sheer strength. As a non-powered member of the team, hand-to-hand combat was Amanda's forte.

"I'll need a sparring partner," Black Canary announced, prompting Wally to eagerly volunteer by shooting his hand up. He walked forward, leaving Amanda with a half-raised hand. Wally, with a cheeky smile, teased, "Better luck next time, gorgeous," before joining Black Canary and casually tossing his banana peel aside.
