Maree's POV

"What's wrong?" I asked Lucas. Me, him and August we're hanging out at my house, but he doesn't seem like he's interested.

"I'm going home." He announced before standing up. Confusion swept over my face before I got up and walked behind him.

"Why?" He put on his shoes and grabbed his keys without saying a word.

"Lucas." I called. He turned around and glared at me.

"Is this a three way relationship or something? Because you spend more time with him than you do with me. We just got together and I feel like I'm the outsider."

Letting out a deep sigh, I frowned.

"I didn't know I was making you feel that way. I honestly would've tried to balance you guys out." I told him. He scoffed and walked out the door.

Once again, I followed him.

"Why are you leaving? I apologized!" I told him, slightly raising my voice.

"It doesn't matter. It's been like this for two weeks straight. Going with him to see his daughter. Going with him to the mall; but when I ask you to hang out, you say that you're tired. So I ask to come over a nap with you. But he beats me to it. I haven't had one day by myself with you in two weeks Maree! I'm done. I'm done with this bullsh*t! Whatever we had. It's gone. We're through. It's over."

"Lucas, please. Let me make this right." I told him as tears started to flow down my face.

"It's too late. I'm sorry. I can't believe I thought you were different." He told me before getting into his truck and driving away.

It's like all my tears stopped

It's like all my tears stopped. I felt numb. All I could do was watch him drive away.

"Maree? You good?" I heard August ask.

I didn't answer, instead I walked into the house and went straight for my room.

I would've locked the door if August hadn't come in right after me.

"Maree. Wussup?" He asked again.

Ignoring him once more, I got under my covers and just laid there.

"Nothing good ever happens to me. Everything always goes wrong. I'm through. I'm done." I told him.

"Through with what?" He asked as he sat beside me on the bed.

"I'm through with life." I mumbled. I didn't really think before I said that. It was what I was feeling inside. Not because of Lucas, but because I never do anything right. I always mess up. I am just ruined.

"I'm not gonna let you." He argued.

"It's nothing you can do. I'm not doing it today though." I pulled my covers further over my head.
