Maree's POV

"I heard about what happened Maree, I'm glad you're okay." My coworker Jen told me.

"Thanks." I mumbled.
I don't really talk to anyone, I haven't for a while.

I was never the popular type, I wasn't even the regular. I was the one who stayed by myself. Most of the time I got ignored. I hated school presentations, no one really listened except for the teacher.

I honestly felt like I related to no one, nobody got me.

My parents.....I don't have any.

I was in foster care so I went from home to home, to group home to group home until two years ago.

I got my own place and I've been working at Chick-Fil-A on weekdays, and Chase on the weekends.

I make a solid three thousand at the end of every month and I'm satisfied with it.

I'm just tired of feeling alone, I feel like I can't trust anyone. So it's hard for me to meet people or make friends. I feel like everyone's going to leave me like my parents did.

Noticing someone standing in front of the register, I looked up.

"Hey." I genuinely smiled at the guy. "What can I get for you today?"

He looked me up and down with a frown before shaking his head. "I want the chicken wrap meal, with a Pepsi."

Nodded, I tried to ignore the way he looked at me and put in his order, happy that it was the last one before I went to the mall.

"Your total is six fifty-two." I told him.
He pulled out a ten and I took it, giving him his change.

"Your name?"

"Toni."

"Okay, your order should be out shortly." I told him with a tight smile as I walked off.

I clocked out after grabbing my things and walked towards the exit.

The Chick-Fil-A I work at, it's in a plaza so I always park my car in the parking garage.

Spotting the Parking Garage door I fastened my pace.

Just when I was about to grab it, it opened, scaring me and I dropped my keys.

The guy who had opened the door, looked down and picked up my keys, handing them to me

Lucas's POV
(Next Day)

"Look, I need you to make this drop while I go handle some business."

"Mane you always makin me do sh*t." Troy mumbled as he got up.

"What was that?" I asked him. He smacked is teeth and shook his head.

"Nothing bruh damn."
Laughing under my breath, I shook my head at that fool.

Troy has been my bro since we was in diapers, but he know the deal when it comes to work.

I made sure everyone was doing what they was supposed to be doing before I left and headed to Chick-Fil-A.

Yeah I eat it like five times out the week but, a nigga be hungry and that's really the only thing I like that's close to my base.

As I rode, I blasted my song "Vent" I dropped about two months ago.

I make music, some people know me. But ion really do allat fame sh*t. It just ain't for me. I just do what I love, if it gets recognized, then that's cool, but if it don't, ion really care.

Opening the door to the restaurant, I headed to the counter since once again, it was late and nobody was here.

While I waited, I took out my phone and checked in the music video for vent. It had over two hundred thousand views.

Smiling, I put my phone away as the cashier came.

My smile dropped once I saw it was the same girl from two weeks ago.

She noticed my change in attitude and looked down.

"Second time someone's done that this week." She mumbled.

"Oh nah, Ian mean it like that. I just.....You don't remember me?" I asked her.
She studied me for a few seconds before her eyes grew wide.

"You were the guy that was here the last time. You literally saved my life." She said, and with every word, her smile got bigger.

"I wouldn't say saved your life, but I did help you." I shrugged.

"Yeah. Thank you, like for real. You didn't have to do that." She said lowly.

"You're welcome." I told her, still wondering why they let her close up after what happened last time.

"So what can I get for you?"

"The number five with a sprite."

"Name?"

"Lucas."

She tapped on the screen before giving me my total and a cup.

"Thank you." I mumbled before walking to the drink dispenser.

As I waited for my food, I watched the girl in the back. Not on purpose, but I really don't have anything else to do. Besides, she's bad as f*ck too.

"Okay. Sorry it took so long. I'm the only one here and I had to make sure everything was off and locked." She said as she took off the hat she wore.
"But other than that, we're good. Enjoy your food."

Unintentionally, I smiled and chuckled. "Thank you."

Finding a seat, I quietly ate and scrolled through my feed on Instagram to pass time.

"Hey, uhm Lucas?" I looked up to see the girl by the exit.

"Time to lock up." She chuckled.

"Oh my bad."
I cleaned up my mess and made my way out the exit.

"Have a good night Lucas." Slightly turning my head, I saw the girl walking in another direction, I'm guessing to her car.

"You too......"

"Maree."

"Maree." I repeated nodding, lightly smiling. "Nice to meet you."

"You too." She smiled. She turned around and I walked to my truck.

Maree's POV

For some reason, I couldn't wipe off the smile that was on my face.

"Yo what about ha?" I heard someone whisper.

"Oh boss gone like ha." Another voice said.
I don't know what is going on but I decided to walk faster to my car.

Hearing a loud shatter behind me, I turned around to see glass on the ground.

"What the hell?" I whispered before turning around and bumping into someone.

Looking up, I froze when I saw a random guy standing in front of me.

My instinct was to run, but I felt someone behind me too. I was trapped.

So I went with my second instinct.

Scream.

Letting out the loudest scream I could, I felt myself collide with the ground.

"Just let me go home." I cried as I told the guys, but they went closer to me.

"Not happening." One of them said as he pulled out a gun.

My eyes widened and I got up, but it was too late. Everything went black.
