The men on the castle grounds waiting for a chance to woo the red queen turned to look at the petite princess when she entered the gates. The petite princess was like a golden sun rising from a blue sky. She was radiant in their eyes and instantly all men fell at her feet. But there was only one she had set her eyes and he was not among those gathered outside. She strode to the castle with her head held high and arrived at the main hall where gifts of gold for the red queen were strewn all over yet she ignored them for the pleasures of wealth was not her aim. The soldiers that guarded the halls couldn't help but turn her way for in their eyes they saw a beauty that outmatched that of their red queen. They gaped at her beautiful yellow eyes, the shining golden hair, the pale face that glistened with petite lips frowning like a flower, and the shimmering ruby necklace adorned on a white neck. She passed by them, ignoring their open mouths agape at her immense beauty, mind set on a purpose. She breathed long and hard as she faced the same door she dreaded to see for it was one she had opened to learn of great infidelity. Her brightness shined light into the dark room filled with the warmth and smell of pleasures that only flesh could attain. And then her heart sank for her hated enemy lay with him.

The red rose queen arose with the same mocking eyes she had encountered not so long ago. The man beside her stirred and she voiced in his ears a demand so cold and deadly that the general looked towards his wife not with the gentleness of a husband but with the eyes of glowing hatred and anger. He took up his sword and was about to plunge the edge into her stomach when another blade flashed before his eyes. The soldier standing guard had brandished his sword against the general. With a swift hand the general struck at the soldier who fell yet before he could slash at the petite princess,  there was another who used himself as a shield against the deadly weapon. More armed soldiers came to fight against the scarred general as the petite princess stood calmly to the bewilderment of the red rose lady. Then it flashed before her red eyes, a weapon that not so long ago she herself had desired yet was deprived of due to petty reasons. Hate and anger filled the red lady as she plunged into the foray aiming at the petite princess' neck where a special necklace hung like a trophy.

It was then that the petite princess ran. The ugly elderly had given her the ugly necklace - a single red gemstone that was tied to a plain chain  - an ornament that would fare better in the possession of a commoner. It didn't suit her luxurious taste that only allowed for large diamonds and pearls to adorn her beautiful neck but she had resolved to wear it for the power it possessed. It was that same power which the red lady wished to attain and kill her for. But she will not perish, the red lady will. She ran till she arrived at the castle grounds where the men after the red queen's heart had gathered.

She stopped and turned to her enemy who pounced on her to take the necklace for herself. For the first time since they met, the red queen showed upon her face the expression of ugly anger as she clawed at the petite princess neck. The petite princess pretended to struggle against her until the red queen took for herself the power that which was deprived of her.

Long ago when she was but a young child of the coven, she yearned for a power far beyond that of her own. True, her contract with a dark being had bestowed upon her the blind love and affection of countless men but it was not enough. Men who held power with their weapons and arms will bow at her feet, heeding her every command without question. She yearned for such power and she soon learned of a necklace created by the one who birthed her which could fulfill  her desires. But she was denied and was thrown out of the coven. She had worked to create the spell on her own and once it succeeded with a pubescent heart but there would be no other. She begged the ugly woman who birthed her for the power but she would not relent.

Now, she held within her hands the very power she yearned and excitement filled her eyes as she wore it upon her neck. Her mind filled with dark fantasies of how she would use men against men to become the queen of hatred and destruction. Why would that old crone give such a precious necklace in the hands of a simpleminded princess?

That was her first agenda, to destroy the petite princess with a single command for the men in the  castle grounds to brandish their swords against her.

And they did brandish their sword. They ran towards the petite princess and grabbed the red rose lady who towered above her. So great was her beauty that each man wanted a piece for  himself. With swords and axes, they hacked at her for a part -  a beautiful red eye or a pluck of red hair, perhaps a finger for keepsake or a beating heart.

The witch's coven was filled with lies, and the fulfillment of a great desire always led to doom.
