If you have reached this part, I would like to say my thanks and I hope you have enjoyed the story.
If the ending is not to your liking - the story is a tragedy where no character develops into a better version of themselves. And though one may argue that love should change people, I have taken great pains not to use the word. The princess and her general are two lonely people who merely sought for warmth and affection not for the sake of each other but for themselves. The tragedy isn't that they died but that they never truly loved nor allowed themselves to change for the better, not them nor any of the characters, not even the people with their vicious cycle of rebellion and greed.
But if you find the ending satisfying then I am glad. I'm not really a pro at this, just someone who wanted to write about evil characters with bad endings. This was enjoyable and ultimately, that's what I'm here for. I have plenty of stories in mind and I hope you will read them.
Cheers,
