"Dude, it fucking burns!"
"Stop being a baby, there's only eight minutes left."
"It's like 1 am. I don't wanna do this anymore."
"We can just stop here and do the color tomorrow then."
"Please, I feel like my scalp is gonna fall off."
"I doubt that's possible without cutting it off but okay."
"I just wanted to match."
A tinge of sadness could be heard in Jisung's statement as his girlfriend wiped down the sink counter with a paper towel, dark blue and purple marks scattered against the skin on her neck, chest, arms and around her hairline. Chan had only just left the bathroom after successfully helping Jay fully get the dye on the back of her head. Neither of them could trust Jisung with that task. It was a weird chain of hair dyeing. Chan with bright red hair helping Jay whilst she slathered bleach on Jisung's head. Truth be told, if anyone walked in they'd probably thing the trio had issues... and they'd be right. The couple's very random playlist had been playing in the background for about an hour now and the vibe was just right. After Jay had cleaned everything up, the timer on her phone went off and she motioned for Jisung to stick his head under the bath faucet. With his knees atop a towel and small fingers running through his hair, Jisung could feel the pain wash away with every drop of water. Soon after, the rush of water stopped and he lifted his head up, shaking it to rid some of the droplets. Whining could be heard from behind him.
"Ji, stop."
"It's fine, you have to shower anyway."
"I know but I hate that feeling."
"What? Being wet?"
The boy turned to make eye contact with the girl behind him with a smirk but was met with a stone cold expression.
"No, knowing that I have to clean it up."
"It's fine, love. I'll clean."
"You better..."
Jisung's vision is blocked as Jay throws a pale yellow towel over his head and starts to gently help dry his hair. Nearly five minutes of comfortable quiet goes by before their eyes meet again and Jisung makes a mischievous face.
"You look busted."
"You're one to talk..."
"I look great as a blonde, thank you. Can't say the same for you with all these mistakes."
He reaches his hand up and pokes different dye stains along his girlfriend's skin, laughing quietly.
"You're just mad cause you can't pull off two colors at once."
"I most definitely can... you're lucky we ran out of purple. I would've blown you out of the water. You couldn't never compare."
With an eye roll and a shove of the other's head, Jay stood up and made her way out of the bathroom, straight into their connected bedroom. Loud chatter could be heard from downstairs through their opened bedroom door so Jay decided to go join their friends. Once downstairs, she was greeted with two bowls of ramen and a finger pointing for her to go back to where she came from. As she entered the bedroom once more, she saw Jisung sat on their bed with the top half of his body exposed. She made her way over and handed him his own bowl before taking a seat on the mattress.
"Shouldn't you be washing your body?"
"I'm just gonna wait til your hair's done so I can help get it out."
"Hm."
The two's attention was turned to their ramen and the show playing out on their tv across the room.
"Who would you date from Jersey Shore?"
"Definitely Vinny."
"No hesitation... honestly, I'd probably go for Jenni. But she's also kinda a cheater so maybe not. Vinny's cool too."
"What about Pauly?"
"I guess, yeaa. His only issue is that he's a home wrecker but it wouldn't be a problem since I'd be single."
"That's true... I dunno, Vinny could get it."
"I agree. I think it's time to rinse your hair though, baby."
"Mkay."
After running their dishes down to the kitchen, Jisung joined his girlfriend in their shower. Swirls of blue and purple ran across their feet with the water as Jay stood under the shower head with her eyes closed. Jisung took this opportunity to poke her in the stomach, to which he ended up on the floor of the tub with a dull pain in the back of his head. Jay hovered over him with her hands over her mouth to cover both her shock and laughter.
"Are you okay, Ji? Why'd you do that?!"
"Damn, Jay."
"You scared me, stupid!"
"You didn't have to shove me into the fucking solar system, though."
With a laugh from the two, Jay helped him back up and pressed a gentle kiss to the sore spot on his head. Apologies were exchanged between the two and they eventually went back to the task at hand. Twenty minutes and four stained hands later, the water finally ran clear and the two quickly washed their bodies then exited the shower to dry off.
"Geez, only two hours into my birthday and all I've been given is a concussion and burning scalp."
"I'm sorry, baby. I promise later will be better."
With a towel wrapped around her body, Jay leaned over to grab their toothbrushes and get them ready before handing Jisung his own. Eyes stay on Jay as she quietly brushes her teeth, too focused on her hair in the mirror. When she's done rinsing her mouth, she catches Jisung with a smile on his face.
"What, weirdo?"
"Darling, you're glowing."
"Yeaa, and you're spending too much time on tiktok. Brush your teeth, cochino."
"Hey, you know you love that song."
Once settled in bed, Jay had her eyes closed. Tangled could be heard throughout the room as well as a dip felt in the other side of the bed. Seconds later, she could feel warm skin against hers as Jisung cuddled close.
"Your hair looks good, princess."
"Thank you, Ji."
"Not as good as mine, though."
