It had been a few weeks since Jisung had stormed out of the house. After a very long talk and lots of tears, things eventually went back to normal. He had been doing his best to keep up communication with his girlfriend, even going as far as texting her all throughout her shifts at work. He'd spam her with random pictures of himself, his surroundings and their friends every hour so that she'd have something to see on break and after work. Jay always looked forward to the pictures, whether they were of the sunset or Jisung's face way too close up. She couldn't help but get butterflies every time she saw his bright eyes and full cheeks pop up on her phone. It made her even more excited to go home every night. Jisung felt the same way. The hours seemed to drag while Jay was at work. If you were to ask him what he did while she was out, he'd tell you he spends his time watching netflix or thinking about her. He wasn't lying either. Chan could confirm that Jisung was always, A. trying to get the others to hold him and watch a movie or B. talking about his girlfriend. It was always the same stories that Jisung would tell but they never said anything because they knew it made him happy. They would, however, tell him that he was whipped for the girl. But they always followed up with how happy they were for him. Aside from Lay, that is. Of course, she was happy for them(mostly Jay), but she loved teasing Jisung about it. She would never tell anyone but she actually feelings for Jay. She would always joke about it and everyone took it as such. But deep down, she knew. There was nothing she could do, though. As long as Jay was happy, so was Lay. That's how it went. What she didn't know was Kayla and Yara had information she would kill to know. One chilly November night four years earlier, Jay had confessed to them.
"I think I have feelings for Lay."
"Wait, what?"
"Just don't tell her."
"Jay, we'd never do that. Do you think she feels the same?"
"I don't know, probably not. Her liking me just wouldn't make any sense.. She's way too good."
"Stop, that's not true! You're amazing."
"I agree, Jay. I don't see why she wouldn't."
"I dunno, but I don't wanna find out."
"Okay.. we'll respect that."
"Yeah, just remember we're always here for you."
Soon after, she had met Jisung and she no longer had to worry about whether or not her feelings were reciprocated. Lay had never given her any type of hint so she just assumed she wasn't interested and moved on. That is, aside from the night on the rooftop. The two girls had been drinking and both glowed under the moonlight, laughing for hours on end. Once they had calmed down, they looked into each other's eyes and there was a moment of silence before their lips collided. Jay swore in that moment that her heart would stop beating but Lay never brought it up again so she tried her best to push the thought to the back of her mind.
Now it was four years later and Jay had forgotten that night and the feeling she had in that moment, her only memories being filled with a certain fluffy hair boy. Lay, however, hadn't forgotten that night. She thought about it pretty often but never expressed her feelings to anyone. Sure, it hurt to see Jay love someone else but it absolutely killed her in the best way to see her happy. Some nights Lay would be so close to confessing but then she'd see her girl with Jisung and rethink her actions. Jay was content... happy. She didn't want to ruin that.
Golden sunlight beamed into certain areas of the house as Jay walked through the front door, arriving from another shift at work. Lay was going to be the first one to have contact with her, until Jisung came out of nowhere and ran over to kiss his girlfriend and wrap his arms around her, his hands resting somewhere that made Lay want to pull him away by his hair. She wanted to be the one kissing her after a long day at work. She wanted to be the one cuddled up with her in bed at night. But instead, she would lie alone. The two girls made eye contact and exchanges small waves as Jisung clung to the small girl, Lay deciding to leave to the living room.
Some time had passed and Jay was sitting out next to the pool, her damp hair hanging down against her bare shoulders and back. As Lay passed by the sliding door in the living room, she took the opportunity to go out and talk to the girl. She took a seat in the lounge chair just a few inches from the soft spoken girl.
"Hey, Jay."
Two pairs of sparkling eyes met.
"Hi, babe. What's up?"
"Just seeing what you're up to.. kinda bored."
"Mm, I'm just making random bracelets."
"That sounds fun... Can I make one?"
"Of course!"
The sound of small beads clacking against each other took the place of the girls' voices and ten minutes later, Lay felt a tap on her shoulder. She looked up to see Jay smiling softly at her with a bracelet in hand.
"For you."
Lay took the bracelet with a laugh and examined it. It had an array of yellow and orange beads with a small 'J' bead perfectly placed in the center. She placed it around her wrist.
"Thanks, Jay."
"You're welcome. So you never forget me."
"That's impossible, love."
"Good, I hope so. I'm glad we're friends."
"So am I."
"I love you."
"And I love you."
