Ah, sorry this took so long guys. This is probably one of my favourite chapters though so I hope you enjoy it. Just wish this story would get as many views as my other one D: xxx
______________________________________________________________I managed to get home the night before without getting caught. I slept soundly after just seeing Sydney. She won the money, so I know she'll be alright and that she'll survive the rest of the week.
I was completely ignorant before I met her. How can we live within twenty minutes of each other and have such different lives? How can my family be rich with three cars, multiple houses and land while her family struggles through each week with only one car, hardly any food and a one and a half bedroom apartment that is supposed to house four people? There are only three people in my family now and we live in a six-bedroom house. It seems highly unnecessary.
I know I said I would pick her up at six, but I really couldn't wait that long. After lunch at school I have a free period, so I jump in my car and drive to her school, waiting for the bell to go and for Sydney to walk out.
I spot her immediately at the top of the stairs, not giving a fuck if she shoves people on her way down. I grin to myself as I pull out my phone and text her. It doesn't take that long to come through because she pulls her phone out of her pocket, reads the text, and then looks around quickly. Her eyes find mine and she grins, shaking her head. I grin back.
I wait patiently as she gets in her car and reverses into the spot next to me.
"I thought you said 6?" She says, rolling down her window and resting her elbow on it.
"You know I'm impatient," I shrug. "I thought we could get the little man and go out for a bit?"
She eyes me suspiciously. "You've got some serious issues if you want to hang out with me this much."
"Who said I want to hang out with you?" I grin. "I only put up with you so me and my mate Riley can hang out."
Sydney rolls her eyes but I can tell she's trying not to laugh. "Alright then, follow me."
We drive to Riley's school and meet him outside the Hall. He runs up to us and starts jumping around my ankles again, asking if he can go on my boat. He almost wets himself with excitement when I tell him that's exactly what we're doing. Sydney doesn't look too pleased but she comes along, knowing that there is no way Riley will accept any of her excuses, nor I.
"Can I ride in your car with you, Hayden?" Riley asks, looking up at me. I glance at Sydney for permission and she nods with a smile on her face that I can't quite decipher.
"Sure thing, buddy. Lead the way." I say. Riley races ahead of us to the car. I innocently take Sydney's as we walk and she doesn't protest which makes me smirk triumphantly.
I help Riley buckle in and then close the door, turning to Sydney who's waiting with her hands linked in front of her and hip rested on the car. She's in a pair of black high-waisted shorts and a cropped-top that says Star Wars across her chest.
"I'll follow you there, yeah?" She asks, her head resting to the side.
I nod and she turns to walk back to her car, but I grab her wrist gently. "I haven't kissed you yet."
She raises an eyebrow. "Good observation." Then pulls her hand away, walking back to her car with her hips swaying. It's actually the sexiest thing ever.
I walk around to the driver's side and hop in, turning the car on. We lead Sydney to the harbour and park our cars next to each other. Riley and I rocked out to some ACDC on the way. Surprisingly he knew most of the songs and he told me that he and Sydney listen to them all the time.
