Kidnapped

Chapter 21

I wake up to a strange smell. I know for a fact that it's bacon because I mean who doesn't love bacon. Wait......I'm pretty sure no one would make breakfast because that is "my" job. I decide to go downstairs but when I go to get out of bed I realize that I can't walk. It's worth a try even though I know I probably won't be able to.

I sit up in the bed. I surprised myself a little bit because at the hospital I couldn't even sit up in the bed and the nurse had to help me. Now I am thinking of the band-aid commercial where the kids are always like "I'm a big kid now".

I go to stand up and everything feels numb. I feel myself going towards the door and somehow I feel better. Like if nothing had happened. I start walking down the stairs and the smell of bacon gets stronger. I forgot to wake up on time! My alarm clock. I never set it.

Now I am going faster down the stairs to get to the kitchen. I don't know whether Hunter will be mad at me or not. I'm assuming he is but he shouldn't be. My alarm clock was set for everyday and someone must have turned it off. So he should be mad at whoever turned it off.

When I get in the kitchen I find Hunter and Jason sitting at the table reading the news paper. Then I see Haley.... Cooking breakfast? Yup, that's exactly what she's doing. I thought she didn't want anyone to find her? Wasn't she going to go get help?

"What's going on?" I'm asking to no one in particular

"I had your cousin Haley here, nice girl she is, really, I mean it. Anyways I had her cook you some breakfast because you were WAY to tired to get your lazy ass up and make something for me" Hunter said. I could tell that there was a little bit of anger, sarcasm, and humor in his voice but I didn't want to push it.

"Uh...sorry?" I'm not sure what to say to that actually. I have a little bit of a smile on my face but it disappears very quickly.

"Sorry! That's all you have to say" he is now yelling at me while Haley and Jason look at me as if they were saying " sorry, can't help you here"

"Well, I just got back from the fucking hospital! You keep telling me that I should be getting up and making you breakfast when really I should be resting. In my bed. At my own fucking house not this shitty dump of a place you call home!" I am beyond pissed. I want to go home. Actually I need to go home and get away from theses creeps. When I said tht Haley walked outside.

"Home? This is your home now whether you like it or not!"

"I never said I didn't like it I.." Hunter cuts me off.

"So then you like it here?" He asks amused that I would even say something like that.

"I NEVER said that. You never let me finish I was going to say that I don't like it here I HATE it here." I scream in his face

"In that case I will just make you hate it here even more. I'm over talking about that. How are you feeling?"

"I'm feeling fan-fucking-tastic! Where'd my wheelchair go?"

"I took it back to the hospital. You won't be needing it anymore"

What? What does he mean by 'you won't be needing it anymore'

"Um..ok? I'm gunna go out by the animals."

I walk out of the house realizing that I still don't feel anything. At least I think I'm walking right. Think, that's the keyword. I need to find a mirror. I should go in the bathroom because that's the only place that I could think of that would have a mirror. I said that I would be by the animals so I'm going to go by them. I haven't been by Paris In a while so I decide to go to her first.

When I get in the barn I realize that Paris is not in her stall. I go to the arena and Haley is riding her around. I don't mind that she rides because I can't ride anyways although I probably could because I wouldn't feel anything. I don't want to take any chances though.

"Hey, teach her any new tricks." I yell so that she can hear me. People don't realize how loud it is when you are riding.

It's not to loud when you are outside because the on,y thing you can hear is the wind and the horses feet on the ground but being in a barn is different. Their noises from their feet echo through the arena. It's an indoor arena. The inside, the walls look like they are metal and on the outside it looks like a regular barn. It is red and the roof is pointed at the top.

"Nah, but I can if you want me to"

"How did you end up back here? I thought that you a were going to get help." I ask because I seriously thought that she was going to get help.

"Uh... I can't uh...hear you right now?" Haley said that as if it were more of a question. I'm still wondering why she's acting so weird.
