Chapter 9:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Amber drags me to our "room" and throws a pair of jean shorts and a tee at me.
"Thought you might want new clothes."
I nod and she turns to walk out of the tent.
I silently slip in the new clothes and revel in the sense of cleanliness that washes over me.
Walking out of the tent I notice the small fire in the center of the field. Amber smiles and tugs my arm along to the campfire.
"Thanks for the clothes" I whisper.
She smiles and shrugs her shoulders like its no big deal.
If I have to fake this whole charade until I can get out of here I'd like to think maybe me and Amber can be 'friends' until I leave.
When we reach the campfire a small flame is lit in the center with five logs centered around it. Amber tells me not to accept any marshmellows from Aaron because the last time they had a bonfire he put bugs on Lily's.
I laughed at this and swore I would be on the look out.
In truth I couldn't wait to eat the melty gooey goodness of the charred marshmellows. It brought back pleasant memories just being around the warmth of the blaze and reminded me of those summer months on my family's annual camping trip.
Scott and Lily come bounding out of the woods holding hands.
Scott swings around a box of Pepsi in his right hand laughing at something Lily said.
"Finally! Amber yelps. "Aaron would have had my head if you guys didn't bring back that soda soon."
Lily rolled her eyes and pulled one of the sodas out of the box and took a swig.
The two of them plopped down on the log across from me and amber making lovey dovey faces at eachother.
Amber crinkles her nose and feins disgust "Gross guys no one wants to see that"
Scott shoots her a look and lily sighs taking another swallow of her pepsi. Noticing me staring she holds up her pepsi and mouths "want one?" I nod and she reaches over to hand the can to me.
Out of nowhere Aaron swoops in and grabs the can from Lily smirking "Thanks"
Lily growls at him and offers her an amused look. "Get your own!" Lily sneers plucking another can from the box and tossing it to me.
I catch it easily and pop off the top.
Aaron sits down on the log next to me and Amber and gives me a coy smile making my shift nervously.
Gosh why did he have to be so cute?
His brown/blonde hair is disheavled in a way that looks incredibly handsome. His green eyes have subtle specks of gold in them that reflect the flames.
He changed his clothes from earlier and is now wearing jeans and a tightfitted black tee- shirt.
Much to my embarassment he catches me studying him and raises an eyebrow.
"Want a marshmellow?" he asks innocently.
"Ya no I'm good" I say denying his offer to poison me.
