Third Person POV, at the Spring Prefectural Qualifiers Tournament (March 21st)

The Aoba Johsai boys volleyball team entered the court. Their opposing team, Dewaichi High, stared at one of the big powerhouses of the Miyagi Prefecture in fear. They knew they were done for.

Both teams were warming up on each side of the court. You could hear cheering, volleyballs bouncing, and shoes sliding. Once in a while, you could hear, "Good one, Kunimi!" or "Nice kill, Iwa-chan!"

About half an hour of warming up went by. Now, each team was huddled up separately. As always, the coach had their motivating words to say, then of course the team captain's.

After Seijoh's coach blabbered about winning, it was Oikawa's turn to speak. "Alright. We're going to nationals no matter what. We're a good team. There's six people on the court. Six strong people. Six strong people are better than one strong person," he paused to glance at Iwaizumi, knowing he rephrased his words, "You only have a few chances to make it to nationals, make each chance count. Oh, and little Miss (Y/N)-chan can't make it today. So let's win this game for her, okay?"

Each boy nodded in agreement. Both teams scattered across the court as the game begun.

(Y/N)'s POV, at the doctor's

I arrived at the doctor's office, with my heart pounding. I knew my cough was getting worse everyday. My breathing was irregular from time to time. My chest burned out of no where. I lost my appetite. I gradually became fatigue and experienced dizziness. I know my doctor, Dr. Akihiro, told me to contact him if my symptoms got worse, but I just couldn't. I was scared. Scared of the idea of being stuck in a hospital bed, all alone.

I took my seat in the waiting room, waiting for Dr. Akihiro to come out.

"Miss (L/N)?" I heard after a few minutes.

I cleared my throat, "Ah, h-here." I stuttered as I stood up and walked toward him.

We both made our way to his office in silence.

As I took a seat, he began asking some questions.

"Are you coughing at all?"

"Just a little..."

"Any loss in appetite? Are you eating normally?"

"Mhm."

"Dizziness at all?"

"Nope."

"Are you able to breath normally? Breathing slower than usual, faster than usual?"

"Yes, breathing normally."

"Any chest pain? Heart burns?"

"From time to time. Not often, though."

Dr. Akihiro raised an eyebrow as he looked down on his checklist, "Alright, thank you. From what you're saying, you seem to be fine for now. For safety measures, I'll give you some pills to weaken your heart burns and reduce your coughing." Dr. Akihiro handed me a cylinder container filled with small pills. "Please take them at least once a day. Thank you for your patience, (Y/N). For now, we'll keep a close eye on you. Your next appointment will be in four weeks, on April 11th. Please go to the front office and schedule your time. Again, if anything happens just shoot me an email. You're dismissed."

I thanked Dr. Akihiro as I left the room to schedule my next appointment.

On my way home, I sighed in relief. Thank goodness I didn't have to stay in the hospital.

I felt my phone vibrate in my back pocket.

I caught myself smiling. I was so happy for them. The volleyball club worked their butts off everyday in hopes to go to nationals one day. I have a gut feeling they're gonna make it this year. I felt another buzz in my hand.

Date Tech... I thought to myself. I've watched them play before. They're pretty tough with their blocks and stuff.

yayyyy!! make sure you boys practice hard, date tech is tough but i'm 100% sure you'll grt through it!!! & i can come to tomorrow's game. my appointment was good, nothing too special!!

I placed my phone back in my pocket as I walked through my front door. Instantly, I walked upstairs into my bedroom. I plopped myself on my bed and let out a sigh.

Out of my bag, the container of pills Dr. Akihiro gave me rolled out. I turned my head to look at it. Picking it up for closer observation, another sigh escaped my mouth. I'm dying soon, aren't I?

From that thought in my head, tears began rolling down my cheeks. I didn't want to die. At least not at this point of my life.

(A/N) TRIGGER WARNING!!! mentions of suicide, cutting!!

I set my pills back on the bed as I rolled up my sleeve, exposing my scars. They were healing up well, thank goodness. I'd be able to wear short-sleeve tops again soon.

I don't want to die, huh? I thought back to myself. I'm sure middle school me would think otherwise. Heck, I even tried killing myself. If only it wasn't for him to stop me... Wow, just thinking about him made me tremble in fear.

I'm realizing just how grateful I should be. How I was able to escape his clutches by visiting Japan, even if it was for one year.

I'm so glad I met Kawa and Izumi. Without them, I'd feel so unsafe everywhere I went. But now, I knew they'd come to my rescue, no matter what.

I let out one last sigh before standing up from my bed. My stomach grumbled... I decided to go make myself some lunch.

Walking out of my room, my heart just pierced my chest. I let out a groan as I fell to the floor. A few seconds passed by as my chest ached and had a stinging feeling. Laying down, I calmed myself down, slowly inhaling and exhaling. The burning in my heart died down eventually.

Woah. I could've just died right now. Nobody would've noticed. I thought to myself as I carefully stood up again. I walked back inside my room to grab the pills laying on the bed.

I made my way as I ran downstairs. Taking a glass cup of water, I took one pill, placed it inside my mouth, and swallowed it down with water.

This might be worse than I excpected....
