Iwaizumi's POV (April 1st)

(Y/N)'s soft hand caressed my cheek, "Thank you for everything."

"Hajime!" I heard a voice call me.

I opened my eyes to Tooru shaking my body, "Huh..?" I asked, still half asleep.

"The doctors said they need to talk to us," Tooru said in a serious tone. I stared at him and nodded in return.

It was around 2 in the morning. Tooru lead me to Dr. Akihiro's office. I recognized that name... he was the one who wrote the doctor's note to (Y/N).

We arrived in front of a door that read "Dr. Itsuki Akihiro." Tooru knocked quietly three times.

The door slowly opened. A slim, elderly man with a gray beard and circular glasses poked his head out. "Oh, good that you guys could make it. Come on in," he said.

We followed him into his office. Tooru and I took a seat in front of Dr. Akihiro's desk. "Sorry to call you boys in so late. I just feel like I need to inform you of the situation as soon as possible," he said.

I shook my head, "No need for apologies. What's the situation?"

The doctor took a big breath in, "Well you see," Tooru and I stiffened our posture, "(Y/N)'s blood cells are failing at a rapid pace. Her heart's becoming frail; it's getting weaker every second. If we don't act quickly, she might- no, she will die."

I held my breath and side-eyed Tooru. His face was frozen. I knew he wouldn't be able to form words, so I had to do the talking. I turned my attention back to Dr. Akihiro, "Act quickly... like... how?" I asked, clueless.

"Great question. (Y/N) will have a much higher chance of survival if she receives a heart transplant. And-"

"From anyone?" Tooru blurted out.

The doctor shook his head, "No. The donor must be the same blood type as the patient. In this case, Blood Type A. And what we will do is take the healthy heart from the donor and transfer it to (Y/N). The donor, however, must be pronounced dead before performing surgery."

"So... we just need to find a... dead person with blood type A...?" I questioned, in complete confusion.

"Well... yes," the Doctor responded.

I ran my fingers through my hair in frustration. "So how do we do all of this?" I asked.

"The best option is to let fate decide everything. We just need to wait for someone to report a lifeless body with the A blood type to be brought in."

"And how long does that take?" Tooru asked.

"Depends, really. At most, probably two or three months. At the very least, maybe a day or two."

I jumped up from my chair, "Two or three months?! You really think (Y/N) will last that long?"

"Hajime, calm down." Tooru placed a hand on my shoulder. I relaxed and sat back down.

"Well, the nurses actually calculated everything and estimated that (Y/N) has about 72 hours left before everything in her body completely shuts down."

The loudest gasp escaped from Tooru's mouth. He was left speechless. "72 hours..." I muttered to myself. I could feel my heart drop down to my toes. "72 hours..." I repeated.

Tooru jolted up and ran out of the door, without saying a word. I looked back at him and sighed. An idea popped up in my head and I turned to Dr. Akihiro.

"Do you... accept live donors?"

"Live donors? Like alive?" he asked. I nodded my head. "Well, we do. But there's a whole process to it. The donor must be 18 years or older and sign a very, very important paper."

I slammed my hand onto his desk, "Can I be her donor?! I qualify! I have blood type A, I'm eighteen, and I would gladly give my heart to her! Please. I'll do anything."

"Young boy, are you thinking correctly? If you do this, you will need to give up your LIFE."

"I'll do it."
