4:20 am
The red lights on the clock were bright, flashing at me almost mockingly. I couldn't sleep and the damn clock was taunting me as if it knew I was awake, and yet, the red lights seared into my eyes amidst the darkroom, the numbers staying the same each time I blinked.
Everything was quiet, as it should be at 4 in the morning in a lodge/house thing full of kids and adults. Yet for some reason, I just couldn't sleep. The excitement of exploring tomorrow was keeping me up, my mind coming up with different scenarios and things that I might see.
Even if I knew some of them were far-fetched, but can you blame me? I was doing something that I've never done before, of course I was thinking about this "plan" a lot. Or well, somewhat plain. So far all I've got is escape and explore a2 woods or forest when I get the chance.
I got tired of laying on the bed and looking at the alarm clock and decided to get up, trying my best to make as little sound possible as to not wake anyone. Setting my feet on the ground I began to stand up.
-Creak-
I cringed at the sound of the bed creaking and looked to Evelyn, another girl I kind of knew, who was sleeping above my bed. For a second I thought she was going to wake up since she was moving a lot, but then she stopped and stayed silent. I waited for a long time watching her, to make sure that she didn't wake up.
'I must look like a creep like this'. I shook my head, of course, I do, I'm sneaking around at night and watching someone in the dark for Goodness sake.
I continued walking until I reached my bag, which I had left in the closet which was right next to our room's door. I had packed this bag separately from my other things. It included a change of clothes, some undergarments just in case, a flashlight, some snacks, and a portable charger, that used sunlight, for my phone. I had prepared this bag specifically for my little side excursion during the trip. I pulled the backpack on my back and stood up from my crouch on the ground.
'Was I really going to do this?'
I walked to the window of my room, I was on the second floor but right below the window was a bush or thick garden of some sort.
I looked back at the door and wondered if this was the only way.
I shook my head and sighed, no, I couldn't. The teachers had placed tape on the doors to see if anyone left their rooms in the middle of the night, and if I did somehow figure out how to leave from the door without ripping the tape, someone would certainly hear me opening a door that led downstairs. I had to go through the window.
Turning my attention back to the window I opened it slightly just to check if it was noisy. Thankfully it wasn't. I opened it up more just enough that I could fit through with my bag. After making sure the others were still asleep and no one was coming towards the room's door, I placed one foot on the ledge before placing my other one. I placed my hands on the window sill for stability and maneuvered my head outside before resting it on the window.
I looked down at the garden/bush and swallowed thickly.
'It's not too late to go back to sleep' a silent part of me whispered, the anxious side. But I shook the thought out of my head.
No, I was not going to back down, not now. I wanted to this, I planned this, I needed this.
I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
'Being two-stories up couldn't be as bad as being in a car c-'
"Guys come on, this way, quietly!"
I heard hushed voices to my left, it looked like a bunch of kids were sneaking off with- wait was that alcohol? Are they seriously doing this now?
Oh whatever, as long as they don't get in my way I ain't complaining.
