Field Trip

I sat idly in the bus ride to British Columbia. The place I had chosen to go to since there was a ton of forests there. There was even one that was near a place we'd be walking by on the way to a restaurant for lunch.

Turns out that this is a 3 day trip for only Eco Club members. Meaning that Gabe couldn't come which meant that I couldn't have anyone to help me with my potentially bad idea. Gabe usually was the one to humble me whenever I had some sort of a crazy idea... oh well I'll just have to do things with no restraints.

I looked out the window of the bus, watching everything nice pass in a blur of greys, greens, blues, and reds. We were on the highway and so far I could only see the road, cars, the occasional truck, and grass and sometimes some trees. There wasn't anything interesting to look at so I brought my attention back to the others on the bus.

We had left the place we were meant to meet a while ago. Probably an hour or so. At first, the others were singing and listening to music while others played games like truth or dare. Some, like me, had decided to remain quiet for the trip. There wasn't much to do since none of my friends were here and I wasn't that close to the others in the Club. So sitting quietly and observing everything was the best thing I could do since I didn't want to finish the books I brought with me on the trip. I tend to speed read when I'm bored.

I didn't like being in the confines of a vehicle, whether it's a car or bus, I didn't like it. Especially when on the highway, where everyone drove really fast. Who knew what could happen, an accident could happen at any time and that could be the last that anyone ever saw you alive.

I shivered at the thought.

The bus could tip over, it could start rolling, crashing into other cars and vehicles. The bus could blow up, everyone would scream and fire would be everywhere. We could all be dead.

I jumped as the back of the bus jostled. I quickly grabbed the ledge of the window beside me and the seat in front of me with my other hand to secure me in my place. I started panting thinking the worst before calming down after looking around. It was just a little thing. Nothing else.

I leaned back in my seat and tried to relax my tense muscles. I looked to my side to see that someone was looking at me and they had a hand to their mouth. As if they were trying to stop themself from laughing.

"You okay there pff-" I glared at the guy. But that just made him laugh some more.

"Sorry sorry, the name's Frederick, I sit near the back in the Club meetings. You alright there? You look a little jumpy." The douche, that was called Frederick, was trying not to laugh as he spoke to me.

'What a jerk, he'd act the same way if he went through the same thing as me...'

I decided to ignore Frederick, maybe it was a bitch move but I didn't care. He was rude.

"Hey come on, I didn't mean no harm."

I kept ignoring him, choosing to see the boring view of cars passing by outside my window, instead. It was helping me forget the bad memories.

"Hey, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be rude, I just thought that you were like some shy introverted kid ya know?"

I exhaled from my mouth angrily, before I faced him again.

"So what if I was? It's rude to laugh at someone's misfortune ya know?" I couldn't keep the irritation or the sass out of my voice.

But honestly, I didn't really care at the moment. My head was hurting from stepping foot into the bus along with the flashbacks the jostle gave me. And this dude laughing at me was certainly not helping my headache.

I didn't face him or anyone for the rest of the trip. I just looked out the window until we reached our destination.

                                                             -----------------------------------------------------------

The rest of the day was pretty uneventful. With getting into our shared rooms, with people I knew a bit about (more so compared to the rest of the members), and getting ready for the tour around British Columbia..... Woo hoo...

Can you tell how excited I am?

Well to be honest it wasn't too bad. Seeing the aquarium was pretty interesting. So was Science World and especially the restaurants. I wouldn't have minded coming only for the food in Vancouver. It was delicious and cheap!

So far I hadn't found a moment where I could ditch and explore this place myself. Then again, even if I did I probably wouldn't have taken it as I'm way too tired to walk around all day.

'Maybe tomorrow I'll get a chance'

With that loose plan in my head, I decided to just go along with my group and check things out.

"Hey (Y/n)! Come on let's head to that restaurant!"

I exited my thoughts to looks back to who spoke. Who knows my name and is willing to talk to me? Oh right Mary, the girl who I share a room with.

I must've taken too long as I saw a bob of dark hair come marching my way, along with the face of my Latina acquaintance/friend and her arms reaching for me.

"This way, come on! We need to get really good seats!"

I looked at Mary with an apologetic expression.

"Sorry hehe, was just admiring the view."

Mary looked at me unimpressed before looking in the direction I was turned towards before she caught my attention. She raised a brow.

"The blue mailbox thing? Really?"

I looked back and realized that I was indeed standing in front of a blue mailbox thing and was staring at it. Well if that's not embarrassing then I don't know what is.

'Quick think of something silly to make her forget. Use Sakamoto's special skill!'

I chuckled lightly, "Yeah you, I just felt a little blue and thought to mail my feelings away by looking at this blue mailbox."

Mary deadpanned at me.

"Really? That was horrible and you know it."

"Maybe... and maybe not" I smiled widely at her.

Mary scoffed and started dragging me in a specific direction, mainly near her loud exuberant friends. Ugh, I hate socializing with this group. I have nothing against them, I just didn't have the same energy level as they did to carry on conversations for hours and chatter about every little thing that's happened to me recently.

As we got closer and I heard their giggling and whispering, I couldn't help get ready to mentally prepare myself for what was about to occur for dinner and maybe even till bedtime.

'Just a few hours, I got this. There's no way my social battery will die out at the start, no possible way...'

I sighed and put my best 'I'm not upset, I'm happy don't worry this is just my face' smile that I could. Whatever it looked like to them I didn't know or care. I just couldn't wait to get this over with.

Okay so this isn't everything I promised last chap, but it is longer so... yay!!! Alright fine this ain't everything, but like there is a plan for this book... to some degree or another... but next chap I am 95% certain that Reader will fall down from some high places.
