Once Upon A Dream

Chapter 1

I landed gently onto the ground, Aurora pacing in front of her throne. I bowed my head smiling at her. It was a beautiful day, the sun shinning, flowers blooming, it was a lovely day for an engagement. Everyone slowly approached.

"Next item of business, the missing fairies. I've sent more sprites to search the Tomb Bloom field. They'll report back to me at nightfall. We will keep searching till we find them" Lief began to  speak, accusing the people and suggesting he crush them.

"Please don't raise your roots at me, Lief. Crushing humans with branches is not going to help" that's when Diaval began to caw in protest to what Aurora had just said. "Diaval, you're supposed to be on my side" I let out a small giggle before composing myself again.

"Aurora, if I may, I can help with the search" She thought for a moment and then nodded.

"I would love your help sister" she smiled at me. Lief spoke up again making Aurora sigh.

"Well, I'm Queen of the Moors and I am a human. As is Celestia" I smiled. She was better at being a Queen then I would have been. I would not know how to handle all of this. Aurora approached her throne, picking up a rabbit that sat there so that she could. "We must all learn a little kindness" 

"Coming through" came Knotgrass' little voice from behind me. I turned to see her, Flittle and Thistlewit. "Excuse us. Official pixie business"

"A word, Your Majesty. Maybe two" Flittle spoke up. 

"Aunties... you need to wait your turn like everyone else"

"No!" Thistlewit pipped up.

"This can't wait, Your Grace. Not for a moment"

"Or I might burst. Truly, I might" Knotgrass and Flittle were holding something, Aurora looking at it worried. I couldn't see what it was very well from where I stood. 

"Is that...?" that's when I heard something chitter. "Pinto!"

"She's come back bearing gifts. The first sap from the warming trees"

"It's for the big day" Thistlewit exclaimed making Knotgrass and Flittle gasp from her almost exposing the secret of Aurora's engagement soon to happen. 

"Quiet, Thistlewit" they nudged and pushed her, irritated that she couldn't keep her mouth shut. 

"What big day?" Aurora questioned as she looked awfully confused. Pinto to distract her leaped up, grabbed Aurora's crown from her head and began to climbing away from Aurora. "Hey! My crown!" Pinto began to roll away from the crown making Aurora follow, irritated. "I'm not in the mood for this" I followed behind her but not very close to her, Diaval soon perched himself on my shoulder.

"Hello my love" I said stroking his feathered chest lightly. That's when we saw my aunties take from crown before Aurora could grab it. She wasn't very amused by the whole situation.

"Come on" we all followed her, Diaval resting on my shoulder. "Where are you going, aunties?" all three of them crashed into a tree dropping the crown with Pinto still clinging on, she nearly fell into water when the water pixies grabbed the crown making sure it didn't even touch the surface of the water. Aurora reached for her crown, but doing so she did not notice the fragile branch that she was leaning on for support, it broke sending her falling into the water. Everyone around gasped. She was no completely drenched. I laughed but soon realised she was not happy. "What's gotten into all of you?"

"There she goes, Your Majesty" I looked to where Pinto had started to roll off again with Aurora's crown. 

"Come back here" Aurora stalked after Pinto through the water, annoyed and soaking wet. "Pinto. I've had enough of your games for today. Look at me" Aurora had disappeared into a tree giving everyone very little to no visibility to her. Diaval flew off my shoulder and into the tree to have a better look. I shook my head, smiling. 

"Please say yes" I whispered, praying Philip would not be turned down. I could see Philip on one knee and not a moment later were the fairies from the trees flying excitedly. She said yes! I saw Philip twirling Aurora around in an embrace. All the people from the Moors rejoiced. I smiled, excitedly, for my sister. I looked for Diaval only to see him flying away. No doubt going to tell Maleficent about the news. This may not be as amazing a day as I thought. Philip never asked Maleficent for her blessing, finding out that Aurora will be married is going to anger her. 

Philip soon left, happier than before. And not too long after Maleficent was flying towards us.

"Aurora" I warned, she followed my eyes to see Maleficent fast approaching. Aurora looked nervous. Maleficent's strong wings blew up mine and Aurora's hair around, sending Pinto flying backwards and our aunties almost went flying away too. She landed with such grace I was still in awe even after all this time. But as much as she was graceful, it didn't retract from the fact that she, was in fact, angry. 

"Well, well" she approached.

"So?" Aurora asked nervously. 

"So" Maleficent was no amused. Aurora began to approach her slowly.

"Godmother... Philip asked me to marry him"

"Poor thing. He'll recover" I tried not to laugh at such a serious moment. 

"My answer was yes"

"No"

"Yes"

"No"

"I wasn't really asking"

"Nor was I"

"What's next? You'll turn  him into a goat"

"Hmm" Maleficent considered the thought. 

"Stop. Why don't you like Philip?"

"Well, for one thing, he's human"

"We're human" I spoke up. 

"And I have never held that against either of you"

"Until I fell in love"

"Love doesn't always end well, Beasty"

"I'll have you know Prince Philip is a prince"

"A very handsome and charming prince" Maleficent did a quick and soft swish of her wrist and my aunties were blown away. Don't poke the bear. 

"I'm just asking you to trust me. Please give him a chance. Let us prove you wrong. Philip is thoughtful... he's very kind..."

"Kind of what?"

"The King and Queen are celebrating tonight... and they have invited all three of us to the castle"

"You want me to meet his parents?"

"It's just a dinner"

"They don't want me in Ulstead. Why on earth would I go?"

"Because his mother wishes to meet mine. Please" and that was the end of that. This should be a dinner to remember.
