Chapter 3

JESSIE'S POV

"Because... It gives me butterflies", Cameron said, looking away from me.

What? Is he flirting with me? I smiled, "That was adorable".

He turned his head to me immediately, and his cheeks were quite red. I grabbed the food and started eating, and we stayed silent for a while.

"So... Do you feel better now?", he asked.

"What? Oh um, yeah, kind of", I replied, "I mean, I don't think I can get over the thoughts of me dying in three months."

He let out a nearly silent "aw", but I could hear it clearly.

"I've been thinking, since I'm such a wonderful person", I joked to lighten the mood up, "I deserve to live, don't you think?"

He smiled, "Of course, you're too young to die, and you still haven't even finish your bucket list yet".

"H-How did you know?", I asked.

"Remember, on the plane, I saw your notebook?", he winked.

Oh my god, I realised. And there was only one goal ticked; moving to LA.
He laughed at my gasping face and said, "Did you know, goals and bucket list are not the same thing?"

I looked at him confused.

"I suck at explaining, but what I know is "bucket list" is...", he stopped a moment to think, and continued, "Here I'll tell you some of mine".

He turned his whole body over to me and crossed his legs, "Skydiving", he listed with his fingers, "fly boarding, and build a massive tree house"

"Wow", I laughed.

"See, yours are way too simple compared to mine", he said, "yours are just normal goals, "meet the love of my life at 22", seriously?"

I laughed out loud, causing everyone's attention. It was probably the first time I ever laughed since yesterday. "Cameron", I said to him, still giggling. I saw him blush and turned away. "To me, the plans I made for my future are what I wanted to do complete most", I smiled, until I realised something, "but I can't, because I'm about to d..."

Cameron cut me off, "Close your eyes"

"What?"

"Just close them"

"Okay...?", I closed my eyes slowly.

A few seconds went by.

"Cameron?", I called his name, but still kept my eyes closed.

"HAPPY BIRTHDAY", Cameron cheered, he has already got off the bench and stood in front of me and bent down too look at me.

"It's not even..."

"It's your 22th birthday Jess, happy birthday", he cheered again loudly and looked around as if he was telling other people as well.

"I'm only nineteen"

"Oh come on Jess", he looked at me with disappointment, "play along".

"Oh um, yaay...?"

He smiled and walked over next to me and sat back down. "So, I purposely brought you here with only us two, to tell you that", he paused and cleared his throat, "all through these solid three years I've known you for, you've never failed to make me smile every time we're together, and I've realised something...", he suddenly turned and looked straight into my eyes, our faces were only inches apart, as he whispered, "Jessie, I love you, will you be my girlfriend?"
