Change Of Heart And A Change Of Fate

Chapter 5

As apology Alex was allowed to stay in their house for the remainder of his stay in the village.They asked him a lot of personal questions and he answered them with vague answers that left them dying of curiosity. He told them he was on his way to the Leaf Village and asked if he could accompany them when they headed back,since it would make the travel easier and less lonely. The three genin of course agreed and nagged their sensei to accept his request, since he was reluctant to let the boy join them. After that was established, Alex offered his help to build the bridge. Tazuna accepted, knowing he needed all the help he could get.

They made turns for two weeks, two people doing patrol and the other two escorting Alex and Tazuna to the bridge and standing guard.Alex knew he didn't need protection, but never told that to the team. He was at the bridge early that morning, working with the people, when a sudden chill ran down his spine. He dropped the load he was carrying before suppressing his chakra down and hiding behind a few shipping crates. He didn't want to scare the workers in case it was a false alarm, so he stayed silent as he observed their surroundings. Right as he settled mist started rolling in from everywhere,  hindering everyone's sight. There was a thunk and a few of the workers screamed out in pain. Alex suppressed his chakra even further down, making almost impossible for anyone to find him. Adrenaline rushed through his body as he strained his ears to catch a gist of where the attackers were. The mist cleared and everyone was either laying in a pool of their own blood or unconscious with various cuts on their bodies. 

Alex could sense the chakra signatures  hiding and knew they were preparing an ambush plan, probably for the genin team.He made a quick decision, gambling at how fast he could stop them and how long he could last in a fight with them. He jumped out at a neck-breaking speed and threw a few dozen shuriken at the spot they were hiding at. Alex disappeared just as fast as he appeared and could hear the affirmation grunt from one of his targets, meaning a few of his shuriken met their marker. Two figures landed on the bridge and searched for the attacker, both scanning unbothered through the mist for the person that dared to start a fight with them.  Alex stepped out of hiding after planting a few exploding seals on the crates next to him. He took his stance and held up one of his custom made kunai, holding his palm up and indicating for them to bring it on. The older of the two, who he could now identify as Zabuza, laughed a deep grumbling laugh at the brave pip-squeak in front of him.

"Are you the one who threw those shuriken?" He asked with a mocking voice.

"Yes, I'm the one who lodged a shuriken into your thigh." Alex stated smugly.

Zabuza grumbled when he realized the boy was right and ordered his companion next to him with a wave of his hand.

"Finish him off Haku."

Haku nodded before racing forward and engaging in a hand-to-hand combat with Alex. Sparks flew everywhere as both struggled to get the upper hand in the fight. Alex was faster in speed but Haku was stronger since he was older and bigger built. Both threw punches and kicks and evaded it at the same time. After a few minutes both of them jumped back and sized each other up, searching for another way to damage. Haku brought his hands together and formed the hand signs for a jutsu. Alex watched with fascination as Haku did one handed seals. He didn't let Haku finish however and activated his exploding seals, and Haku was unfortunate to stand right next to the crates. The force of the explosion threw both Zabuza and Haku back, Haku with minor burns on his right side that bubbled on his skin. Alex also got thrown back by the explosion, but was caught mid-air by non other than Kakashi himself.

Kakashi placed Alex down where the team was , and inspected the damage the boy had done in all but five minutes.He was impressed with Alex's fast thinking and at the fact that the boy could fighttoo. He only had small cuts, but nothing serious that needed medical attention . Zabuza and Haku both coughed as they stood up, Haku hissing as his side ached. Sakura stood in front of Tazuna in a defending position,already knowing she could only get in the way if she were to fight next to her two teammates.  Sasuke ran up to Haku and they engaged in a ninjutsu battle. Zabuza stood next to Kakashi, both watching each other and their pupils. Alex decided to watch the battle play out , knowing it was best if he didn't interfere with the team.

Naruto had joined the fight after twenty minutes and both of them took on Haku together i8n his strange ice dome jutsu. Kakashi and Zabuza were engaged in a battle not long after and both tried to one up each other. Both Sasuke and Naruto were panting heavily and were badly beaten up, Haku not doing much better as his wound was now bleeding from being aggravated during their ninjutsu battle. It happened so suddenly, while Zabuza was fighting Kakashi, Haku had freezed Kakashi's feet to the ground and Zabuza decided to take that chance to end the legendary ninja before he could escape his grasp. Alex saw this and ran forward as the sword came from behind Kakashi. He jumped in front of the blade with his back facing Zabuza. The momentum of the blade hitting him threw them both down to the ground and unstuck Kakashi. Said man turned around at stared at the spot he had just stood. The blade is where his head was moments ago, still hanging mid-air as Zabuza stared in shock for missing the wonderful opportunity to end a life. Using this distraction he made the hand seals for Chidori and drove it through Zabuza and Haku, who had jumped in front of him to protect him last minute, but still failed seeing as both bodies fell to the ground very much dead.

Both ninja's died before they even touched the ground and the area settled into a dead silence. Sasuke and Naruto were both panting heavily, and leaning against each other for support. Sakura had a few cuts and a bloodied leg. Sakura was quick to run to the both of them and fuss over Sasuke in her weird fangirl way. Kakashi was watching his students for any signs of life threatening injuries before turning his attention back to Alex. He was sitting on the ground, breathing heavily. He stood up and hissed in pain when the cut on his back throbbed painfully.

"Are you alright?" Kakashi asked while eyeing the boy who saved his life.

"Yeah...J-just some minor difficulties." He panted out.

"Show me so I can patch you up. You wanted to come with us after all, and what a lot of good that would do if you died of blood loss..."

Alex nodded and slowly removed his shirt. He turned around and Kakashi gasped at the big cut running down from the top right of his  shoulder and across his back to the hip on his left. The blood was running out of the wound non-stop and Alex started looking very pale. Alex faced Kakashi again and started swaying unsteady on his feet. Kakashi caught him just as he fell forwards.

"S-Sorry Kakashi-san ,b-but I-I don't think I-I can walk r-right now." Alex breathed out and groaned in pain.

Kakashi nodded and called Sakura over to him.The three genin visibly paled when they saw their friend and Sakura ran over to Kakashi's side. He explained to her how to hoist Alex onto his back before crouching down low so she could get easier access. After they secured Alex, they took off in a dead sprint to Tazuna's house.

"Y'know Kashi-san...you smell j'st like m'dad." Alex commented before going unconscious.
