Change Of Heart And A Change Of Fate

Chapter 6

Alex stood behind Team 7 as they gave the Hokage their mission report. The horror on his face grew and Kakashi started fidgeting nervously. They were dismissed after giving the report, and sent back to their families, all being worried at their late arrival after the mission. Kakashi was quick to give his former sensei his side of the story, and to reassure him that 'yes it was taken care of' and 'no, you didn't send us into a death trap'. The Hokage had calmed down and gestured for Kakashi to continue , since he was still standing there.

"We brought back a traveler that wished to come to the Leaf. He could also be a ninja of the villige if he wishes  since he helped in the attack against Zabuza and showed some great skill."

"Oh? Well where is this traveler you mentioned Kakashi?"The Hokage asked intrigued.

Alex hesitantly stepped out behind Kakashi and shuffled nervously on the spot as he felt the Hokage's gaze on his small frame. The cut on his back burned slightly, reminding him to settle down before it could re-open again. He glanced up at the Hokage's pain fulled face.

"You have remarkable red hair, is someone in your family an Uzumaki?" He asked with a heavy tone.

"A-Ano...I never knew my mother. My dad has pitch black hair, so I-I just assumed my mother had red hair. I don't know if she was a Uzumaki though... " Alex explained while fidgeting nervously with the hem of his shirt.

"What's your father's name?" Kakashi asked.

"Well...um...he told me to guess it .I don't know his name." Alex stated as he glanced at Kakashi

"Why is your father not with you?" The hokage asked gently.

"H-He told me he was being hunted. He wanted me to run before they found him so they wouldn't come after me. He told me where to go before leaving to hold them back."

The Hokage's gaze softened and he glanced at Kakashi , who gave him a nod in return.

"Do you know who was hunting him?" Kakashi asked

"Yes, the A-akatsuki. They wanted his Sharigan because it's very powerful." Alex begrudgingly admitted, not feeling comfortable at the amount of information he was giving them freely

The room fell silent. Alex internally cursed at himself, obviously having said the wrong thing. Kakashi and Minato couldn't believe what they were hearing. Minato then called one of his ANBU and ordered them to take Alex to his temporary apartment. After they left, Minato sighed and sat down.

"What do you think are the chances of him awakening the Sharingan?" The Hokage mumbled as he leaned forward in his chair.

"Well...It's hard to tell. He might not awaken it at all.He doesn't really have the traits of an Uchiha"

"Very well, but I want ANBU watching him at all times. He will be tested and then put on your team so you can watch him. We don't know if the Akatsuki will come after him too. Watch out for him Kakashi." The Hokage dismissed Kakashi.

The silver haired ninja nodded and body flickered out of his office, heading straight for his apartment to rest after the taxing mission.

Alex flinched as his cut burned , sending a wave of agony through his body. He gently applied the salve he had received from the medics onto the cut before taking the time to examine his small apartment. The Hokage said it was only temporary so he would probably moved again in a few weeks time.
