Reuniting

" I mean I do miss home but I was just getting used to the college life." I said to my sister Jaz.

" Lani you've been gone for 5 years it's okay to come back home now. And besides maybe you can finally see-" my sister Jaz said back to me.

" Whatever girl" I said " Anyway I need to run in this mall and pick up this present I'll talk to you later."

" Alright love you." she replied with a sigh.

"Love you too." I said getting out the car.

" Come on Lay." I say to my five year old child.

 I got pregnant with her during my senior year. Nobody knew expect my family and of course Morgan. I went to school and had her at the same time. And still managed to come out at the top of my class. But the thing is Lay's father doesn't know she exist. It a long story but the short version is that he went to jail and I stopped talking to him by his request. So I've just been doing everything myself for the past 5 years. Some people say it's selfish but the stuff he's involved with I rather keep her outta of. I've seen what that path can do to people.

"I'd hadn't been in this mall in a min." I thought to myself.

Once I made it to the store, I picked out the shoes and went to pay.

" Okay your total is going to be 132.76. How would you like to pay cash or card."

" Card please." I said

"You a lie." I heard " I told his ass  'When I leave I leave' I ain't coming back you gon have to figure that out yo self. That's not coming out of my paycheck." 

I tried my best to not gasp. It had been 5 years and somehow I managed to run into him at a footlocker of all places.

" Here you go ma'am have a nice day." the cashier said

" Thank you, you too." I said turning around still trying to avoid him.

" Lay baby come on." I say.

" Lani" I heard as I almost made it to the door

" Hi Quincy." I replied

" Mommy who is this" Lay asks.

Quincy looks down at Lay then up at me. I try to open my mouth to talk to him but nothing comes out.

" Hi my name is Lay. Im five years old. Do you know my mommy?" Lay asks.

I can see the gears began to turn in Quincy's head.

"Five years old. That's funny. Isn't that how long it's been?" He asks.

The thought of him finding out about her appeared in my mind. I managed to keep the secret this long and it was about to come out. 

The only thing that managed to come out of my mouth was " Yeah."

I decided to redo some stuff just because it would fit the storyline better so I hope y'all enjoy.
