Roman adjusted his shirt and straightened his shirt. He fixed his posture and confidently looked into the mirror. "Okay." He said to himself. "I'm ready for this."
Roman strolled out of his room, looking as confident as ever. "Romannn!" Patton ran up to Roman and wrapped him in a hug.
"Hello! I'm going to see the new guy if you would like to join!"
"Are you sure? I mean, are you ready for that yet?" Patton asked.
"But of course! I took those four days to get over it, now I'm fine! I'm ready to take down the shadow group entirely!" Roman laughed, turning the corner.
Patton nodded. "Just so you know, he doesn't remember anything. All he remembered when he woke up was someone calling him Anxiety. So, try not to hold anything against him." He said.
"Strange. Ah, well. I'll be civil." When they got to Anxiety's infirmary room, Roman was starting to feel a pit in his stomach. Would the sight of Roman knock his memory? What would happen if it did?
Patton knocked on the door. They heard a faint "Come in." Patton opened the door. "Hey Kiddo, how ya feelin'?"
"Still really groggy. You?" Anxiety rubbed his head, and he was pale. Like, he could blend in with the snow, pale. His eyes were light brown with little purple flecks in them, with black eye shadow under his eyes. Roman didn't know people were allowed make-up there.
"I'm okay. But there's someone here who wants to meet you." Patton moved to let Roman through.
Roman was scowling at Anxiety. "Who are you?" Anxiety asked. Roman couldn't explain why, but the question made made him angry. He could've flipped a table if there'd been one there.
"I'm Prince Roman," Roman pulled a chair to the side of the hospital bed. "I wanted to meet you."
"Why? Are you going to explain why I'm here? No one is telling me."
Roman almost had a hard time staying stone-faced. But it turns out blame for killing someone you love is a pretty good motivator to hate someone. "Well, there was an attack at a ball." Roman recapped the whole event.
Anxiety looked horrified. "I wouldn't do that!"
Roman glared. "Well you did. And it can't be changed."
"Wow." Anxiety sat back, absorbing this information.
"I'm going to go see Remus." Roman walked out. "And by the way, 'wow' is not a good response to someone telling you you're partially responsible for someone's death."
Patton's eyes widened as he followed Roman out. He smiled apologetically at Anxiety. "See you later." Anxiety just nodded. Patton closed the door behind him. "What was that?" He asked Roman.
Roman shrugged. "I don't like him."
