"Are we there yet?" Roman asked. They'd been on the road for one day so far, the cave was a week away. This would be a long trip. They were riding horses in a line, Logan in the front, Virgil right behind him. Then Roman and Patton in the back.

Virgil sighed. "This is the eighth time you've asked. Does it look like we're there?"

"Well, I'm sorry a prince has more important things to do!" Roman huffed, almost running into a tree.

"You are such a pompous jerk." Virgil rolled his eyes. "You're the one who decided to come along! Technically I'm the only one who needs to go. I don't need you here."

I don't need you. Roman froze almost running into a tree. "Nonsense!" He shook himself. "I'm a prince, I can't miss an adventure!"

Patton saw Roman stiffen up. "Now, now! How about we find a place to rest and calm down a bit!"

Logan nodded. "We are going to be traveling for at least half a month. We cannot afford to be at each other's throats the whole time."

  Roman huffed. "Fine."

Virgil rolled his eyes. "Makes sense."

They kept walking for about an hour in silence. Eventually, they found a clearing in the middle of the forest. "I'll lay down some blankets, Roman, Virgil you go get wood to start a fire," Patton said, dismounting his horse. "Logan can help me."

Virgil and Roman nodded and left to gather logs and sticks. Patton looked up at the sky, slightly cloudy, but otherwise blue and clear. "It doesn't look like it's going to rain," Logan said, not even looking up.

"How do you know that?" Patton asked, setting up rocks in a circle for the fire.

"I was watching the sky before we left. As well as an invention I made."

"Invention? You can tell the weather? How?"

Logan pulled a small looking air balloon out of his bag, there was some sort of device connected to it. "It's not perfect, but I use things like temperature, humidity, and patterns to predict the weather." Logan pointed to a few things on it. "This tells the temperature, and this tells the humidity."

Patton's eyes were filled with stars at this point. "Can I touch it?"

"I'd rather you did not. It's very-"

Patton walked over to the thing in Logan's hand and started poking it. "It's so cool! You're such a smarty-pants!"

"Yes, thank you. Now please, don't touch it. I don't want it to break." Logan put it back in his bag. "Wait, did you just say 'smarty-pants'?"

"Fine," Patton pouted. "Yeah, because you're a smarty, and you have pants!"

"I would hope I have pants, I would hope everyone has pants." Logan blinked.

Patton laughed. "Oh alright. We should finish setting up before the other two get here."

Logan nodded and started laying down blankets near the fire. "Why did you send those two together anyway? They've been bickering the whole time."

Patton smiled. "They need to learn how to get along, what better way to do that than have them spend time together?"

  "I suppose that makes sense."

With ✨Janus✨

"Ew, mud!" Sleep complained, lifting his foot. "Tell me again why we're outside getting dirty and not inside."

Janus sighed. Bringing his colleague was bound to have some disadvantages. "Because- well, never mind. Everyone has a motive, I'm keeping mine a secret. If that's okay with you."

"Cut the sarcasm. Who's the boy?" Sleep asked. Janus rolled his eyes and kept walking. "Hey, wait up!"

Janus kept walking quietly, with Sleep at his side complaining about the dirt and the cold. Eventually, they found a patch of pine trees and decided to spend the night there, being careful of the needles of course. Once night fell Janus noticed smoke coming up and a fire a small way away. Whatever, it's obviously just some people camping, four very mismatched people, and one with some very familiar purple hair.
