My first few classes went pretty quickly considering how jumpy I was. In between classes when I was walking through the corridors I would wait until most of the crowd was gone before walking to my next class. I was terrified my wings would brush against someone and they would somehow know they were real. I couldn't concentrate in classes, all my thoughts taken up by the new feathered limbs on my back.

I walked through one of the hallways, after I'd waited for the crowd to disperse to the cafeteria, where I saw my group of friends at our usual table. I quickly joined the back of the line to get some food.

Once I'd gotten my food I wandered towards our table, being careful to avoid getting too close to other people.

"Lily! I love your costume!"

It was my friend Emily. She was a very curious person and I hoped she wouldn't ask to touch or "try on" my wings.

"Oh, thanks." I sat down next to Layla. We were a friend group of four, it was Emily, Lucy, Layla and I. Emily was the loud and kinda crazy one, Lucy was the quiet artistic one (in fact she was drawing in her sketchbook right now), Layla was the smart and popular one, and I was just... I dunno. I was just there. I was the only one out of the four of us wearing a costume, and I felt a bit awkward by it.

"Can I touch the wings?"

Yep, as I'd expected, Emily wanted to touch them. Layla looked at me and raised an eyebrow as if asking what I was going to do.

"Sorry, they are kinda delicate. The feathers come off easily." I said and shrugged apologetically.

"Oh, ok that's fine." She said but looked a bit disappointed.

Lunch went pretty quickly, and before I knew it the bell had gone. I got up to go to my next class, maths, but Lucy stopped me by putting a hand on my shoulder. I jumped slightly and whirled around.

She smiled and held up a peice of paper which had been ripped from her sketchbook. "I did a drawing for you."

It was a pencil sketch of me sitting on a tree branch with my legs dangling down, staring out into the distance, my wings spread out behind me.

"Wow, I-" I didn't know what to say.

"Do you like it?" She looked at me nervous, like she was worried I would say it was bad.

"Its incredible! And so realistic! I hugged her.

She laughed, a soft sound. "Except for the wings."

I chuckled nervously. "Yeah, of course." I was such a bad liar. Everyone, especially my friends, could always tell if I was lying. Luckily Lucy didn't notice as she had already turned around and was showing the drawing to Emily and Layla who had asked to see it.

After saying goodbye to all my friends I started heading to maths class. I sat in my usual seat and tried to listen to what the teacher was saying, but got more and more bored as the lesson went on. The classroom was hot and I started to feel sleepy. I spun my pen between my fingers as I stared out the window, unable to concentrate on the lesson. Suddenly two doves flew past the window, the sun shining on their white feathers.

I stood in the small village, friendly faces all around. The woman that I had seen last time was nowhere to be seen. Everyone I noticed a group of children running past, no older than ten. They unfurled their wings. Feathered, pure white wings, exactly like my own. I'm not the only one. I thought as I stared around at them. I saw them take off and looked into the sky, noticing for the first time there were more people flying around up there, their white wings stretched out in the sunlight. There are so many of us. I looked back at everyone on the ground. People of all genders, races, and ages. But they all had one thing in common. They all had wings. We are so beautiful.

Suddenly I was back in the stuffy maths classroom. I gasped and looked around, no one had noticed anything. I looked down at the locket I was wearing. The first time I had one of these visions was when I had first put it on, excluding that dream I had. Maybe the locket is causing them. I quickly took it off and stuffed it in my bag.

For the rest of the lesson I sat there, thinking about the visions. Firstly the one when I had put the locket on and I saw that woman, now the one where I saw the people had wings. What did they mean, and why was I having them?

When the bell rang I looked down at my book and realized all I had written was the date. I closed it and put it in my bad, hoping the lesson wasn't too important.

Maths had been the last lesson of the day and it was time to go home. I quickly made my way though the school to the front entrance, hurrying as I didn't want to miss the bus. I was just out of the doors and then a couple of kids ran past me, almost knocking me over.

A couple of the winged people ran past me, spreading their wings as they ran. They jumped into the air, stroking their wings downwards. Flapping strongly, they rose into the air, disappearing over the treetops as they flew over the forest.

I tumbled as I hit the floor, jumping to my feet as soon as I stopped moving. Another vision. And this time I hadn't been wearing the locket. It must not be the locket causing them. I wasn't wearing the locket when I had the dream, after all.

"Lily?" Layla appeared beside me.

I realized I was still in the middle of the crowd, in peoples way.

"Are you ok?" She asked, looking concerned. She must of seen me fall.

"Yeah I... I'm ok." I usually told her everything, but I felt like I should keep the visions private. I didn't want her thinking I was crazy. "Come on, we don't want to miss the bus!" I hurried ahead before she could see by my face that I was hiding something from her.

I've decided I will try to post 1-2 chapters a week from now on. I only have school for another week before a break, so hopefully I'll be able to post a lot during the break as I will probably be at home the whole time.
