I was flying again. Almost as high as the clouds this time, and it was night. The moon, shining with a glowing while light, reflected off my out spread wings. Far down below me there was also light, from the houses I was flying over. I was flying north. I'm not sure how I knew the direction was north, I just did.

I smiled as I felt myself waking up, still feeling the peace of flying from my dream. Then I remembered what I had to do. I rolled over and tried to fall asleep again but heard footsteps coming up the stairs. I quickly made sure my blanket was covering my wings, and then looked up as the door opened.

"Hey girls! Sorry if I woke you, I'm just letting you know that I'm going to golf. Bye!"

And then he was gone. Our dad goes out for golf once a month with his friends, I'd completely forgotten it was today. I sighed in relief. I wouldn't have to sneak around today.

"Lily, you awake yet?" Layla asked from her bed.

I sat up and stretched my arms and wings out. "I'm awake." I saw Layla flinch slightly when she saw the wings.

She laughed nervously, "I'd kinda hoped that was all just a dream." She played with her blanket in her hands. "So, last night. Did you fly?"

"Yeah, I did. It was easier than I thought it would be." I smiled "It was so fun." I hopped out of bed and got into some comfortable clothes.

I've got to tell her.

"So..." I took a deep breath "I'm gonna leave."

Layla turned around from where she was making her bed. "What do you mean you are going to leave" she said slowly.

"I have to leave. I can't live here with wings."

"But you- why? Where will you go?" She asked, a look of shock on her face.

She doesn't want me to leave her.

I sighed. "Well... I haven't exactly been telling you everything"

And so I told her. The dreams, the visions, all of it. I told her that there are more winged people out there, and that I need to find them. She didn't take it as well as I'd hoped.

"But you don't even know if they exist! You've only seen them in dreams and visions, how do you know they are even real? Do you have any proof?" She asked.

Looking down I said, "I- no. I don't have any proof." I glanced up and looked her in the eyes, "But I know they exist. I can feel it. And if I leave and travel north, I will find them."

She looked confused. "North? Why north?"

"Well I had this dream-"

She cut me off. "Why do you think it's a good idea to follow your literal dreams? What if you get lost? Or hurt? Or worse?" She looked worried. "I dont want to lose you."

I sighed. "Look, I don't want to leave. I want to stay here and live in this house and continue going to school more than anything else. But I have no choice, I have no life here anymore."

"Stop being so dramatic! Of course you have a life here. We'll figure something out, maybe you-"

I stepped forwards and put my hand on her shoulder. "I'm sorry, theres nothing you can do to make me stay. I'm leaving. Tonight."

There were tears in her eyes, she looked defeated. "Okay, I understand. But I'm coming with you." She looked back at me, her eyes filled with determination.

"I- fine. You can come." It was the only way I could get her to let me go.

I'm so sorry, Layla.
