Farha's POV
"Oh my! Today seems so bright". I murmured as I woke up to the bright shinny sun rays entering my room. "Looks like am gonna have a lot of fun today. I should get out of bed now and get ready for the party".
I got up and headed to the washroom when my cellphone rang and I immediately looked back. "Ah it's Sana calling".Me: Hey girlfriend.
Sana: Hi Ri how are you? Had a peaceful night?
Me: I'm good. Yes yes my night was just so cool.
Sana: You still going for the party?
Me: Of course! Why not? After all there's gonna be a lot of fun.
Sana: Exactly so get ready quickly. I'll wait for you at the front of your house.
Me: Okay okay
Sana: Alright bye. See you soon.
Me: Bye see you.I had my bath quickly, got dressed and yes! I was ready for the party. I rushed down the stairs to the living room and as usual, everyone was already at the dinning table. Don't blame me, that's just how I prove to be. I always get out of bed very late on a day I'm off work. You know, counselors do not really have everyday appointments so.......
I just take some days off work and go party with my friends.Mum was staring at me or should I just say at my dress? I was wearing a baby blue top and a black jean trouser, the trouser wasn't really very long as it didn't touch my ankles, my hair was packed into a ponytail. I always don't like it when mum looks at me that way, it shows disagreement and disappointment on her face.
Good morning everyone. I said my greetings smiling but then I saw that my dad was displeased. "Argh! These people"
Dad: How many times do I tell you Farha? That you have to say the Salam. You're a Muslim child and you should always learn to greet in the Muslims way of greeting.
" Oh Gosh! He has started to lecture me again. This is meant to be a peaceful and happy day for me and now I'm starting this day with these lectures. Ahh!"
Me: Sorry dad. Salamualaykum everyone.
They all replied my greeting and mum started her own round of lectures.
Mum: And Farha, I can see that you are going somewhere now. Where is it that you are heading to this morning?
Me: Mum, I'm going out with Sana. It's one of her friends birthday party today, so she's invited me.
Mum: Hmm I see. And... Will you go out in these clothes?
Me: Yes mum, is something wrong with them?
Mum: How many times do I tell you Farha that you are a lady, a Muslim girl for God's sake and you have to dress modest........ You won't go out in these clothes. Now get to your room now and wear something better. And yes... you have to cover your hair." Ahh why does this have to happen to me now" I thought squeezing my face. " I had bought these clothes solely for this party and now mum wants me to change them? Done it"
Me: But mum, can I at least have breakfast?
Mahira: But Aunt Farha, mum has told you to get your clothes changed.I looked at Mahi with an angry face. I'm not always like that to her but I was hungry. Aafia also interfered.
Aafia: What's with you Mahi? Aunt Farha is hungry right now. Can't she just change her clothes later.
Yes, I love Aafia for that. She doesn't hesitate to scold Mahira when wrong. Though both are twin sisters but Aafia seems more mature than Mahira. Amar was just there staring all these while. He was busy munching away his food. My little brother loves food a lot more than a boy should do.
Dad: Farha come sit and have food but remember you won't go out in these clothes.
"No problem dad. Thanks". I replied and quickly rushed over my food. I headed to my room changed my dress even though I was not happy but I dared not disobey my parents and I was now wearing a long dress. My lovely pink lace lahenga which my mum had specially bought for my twentieth birthday.
I flung my dupatta over my hair as I would spend much time if I started wrapping and left the house. Sana was already waiting for me and in no time, we were already at Riya's house.
It was Riya's twenty first birthday and she had wanted to celebrate it in a grand way. Sana and I made our entry into Riya's house and I could feel everyone's gaze fall on me. I felt uncomfortable as I locked eyes with one of the guys. At least I've got some shame that I'm always shy and uncomfortable when people stare at me way too much.
I held Sana's hands and we made our way into Riya's room. Riya welcomed us warmly. "Welcome and feel free to enjoy the party" she said to me. The party started in no time and hardly had I started having fun than my cellphone rang.
"Farha I'm at your house now but you're not home." Alma said from the other side of the line.
"Yes I'm at Riya's birthday party" I replied.
Alma: Oh it's her birthday today?
Me: Yes, are you coming over?
Alma: Yes but just to pick you up. You have to get home now. Your parents have made a big decision regarding you.
Me: A decision regarding me? What's it again?
Alma: We can't discuss it over the phone. I'm coming now.
Me: okay then.Alma ended the call and I was completely lost in the thought of what the decision could be. Alma is my best friend even though we are of different characters. We love each other so much and behave like sisters would do. She's almost become a family member as my parents love her so much and why won't they? After all she's a very religious girl, kind trustworthy and truthful. She dresses modestly covering every part of her body.
I have also been able to take after some of her good behaviors but I do not just dress the way she does, not that I don't like it but I just like to dress like a lady precisely a babe would do.
Sana was busy dancing with her boyfriend so I just sent her a message that I was leaving and it was urgent. She gave me a smile and nodded indicating that she had received my message. Alma came in her car a few minutes after and I left Riya's house. Alma could see the uneasiness in my face so she later broke the news to me. "Farha you're getting married" She said smiling. "What??!!!Yeah! As- salamualaykum lovelies. First chapter is finally here. I'll like to sincerely apologise for updating this chapter very late. I'm so sorry. "Afwan ukhties". Wallahi I've been very busy and now I'll try to update as fast as I can because I already have the script. I hope you enjoyed the chap. and please don't forget to vote and if you find it interesting your comments would be highly appreciated. Thanks to y'all. Salam!
