I was just a dream, Peacemaker told himself, though he wasn't sure he believed it. He was sitting outside with his mother. "Mother?" Peacemaker spoke softly. "Yes, my little Peacemaker?" Foeslayer spoke gently. "I want to see Firefly again." Peacemaker admitted, he felt almost like a RainWing, all his emotions splattered over his scales like paint. "I'm sure you'll see enough of her  at the Academy," she said.

"But mother!" Peacemaker said, his voice panicked, "I already know how to read, a little bit, I mean I'm working on my writing! I'm sure I can figure this out, I don't need school."

"Oh, Peacemaker," Foeslayer sighed. "School will be good for you."

Really? I'm a NightWing RainWing hybrid, will they really want to be friends with me?

.....

I guess Firefly is also a NightWing RainWing hybrid, so I won't be totally alone.

But she knows who her Mother and Father are, his mind argued. I don't.

Now that Peacemaker thought about it, who was his father?

But Peacemaker had no time to think before he was snapped back into reality. "Peacemaker? Peacemaker? Are you okay? You look really tired!" Foeslayer shouted into his ear.

"Oh! I-I'm fine..l really, mother.." Peacemaker stammered, wobbling.

"Are you ready to go to Jade Mountain Academy?" Foeslayer asked.

"R-right now?!" Peacemaker yelped, whirling around and thrusting out his wings. His wings shimmered like rain-soaked grass, the colors melting against the black, sparkling and dazzling like a parade of colors. "Yes, right now. Peacemaker, are you sure you're okay? We've already discussed this... and you've had your two days of preparation." Foeslayer said sternly.

"Sorry, mother. I'm just really uneasy right now." Peacemaker replied, his wings drooping a fraction of an inch.

"And why is that?" His mother asked in concern.

"It's really nothing..." Peacemaker replied shakily, still thinking about the strange dream.

"Well, if you say so. We're going now, so, come on!" Foeslayer said, walking out the door and spreading her wings. Peacemaker scrambled after her, his wings splayed out to the side as he thrust himself into the air, flapping hard. He clumsily soared above the rainforest canopy and aligned himself with his mother's wings. "Peacemaker, there is nothing to worry about. You'll make friends there! And that dragonet you like, Firefly, will be there too." Foeslayer reassured her troubled dragonet.

Peacemaker blushed hard at the mention of Firefly, and soared in front of his mother to escape having to chat. They soared day and night, occasionally stopping to eat and sleep. A couple days later, they soon saw the distant Jade mountain. "Oh, wow.." Peacemaker breathed, his wings ached but he didn't want to waste another day. The school officially opened tomorrow!

"You'll see Moon and her friends there too! So it won't be just people you don't know." Foeslayer said. Peacemaker had his hopes up, he was excited for the first day of school. But there was this deeper feeling in the back of his mind... the strange voice, just sitting there... utterly silent... watching him... He shook his head, as if trying to shake the voice out.

And then, the sooner he knew it, he was flapping down towards the cliff opening. His talons scraped against the stone as he landed. His mother plopped down alongside him. "Have a great day at school, Peacemaker!" Foeslayer said, nuzzling Peacemaker's snout with her own. Peacemaker wanted to say something, but his mother was already lifting off, flying back the way they came.

Peacemaker watched her go from the little ledge, sitting underneath the same tree Moon sat underneath with her mother. Peacemaker sighed, took in a deep breath, and courageously walked into the cave-mouth.
