"Mommy! Mommy! Mommy!" Squeaked a little voice, Peacemaker tugged on Foeslayer's wings, his ruffles sparking up. "Yes, Peacemaker?" Foeslayer asked gently, tugging her wings free from Peacemaker's talons. "I wanna see Moon!" He said, waving his talons in the air.
"Oh, okay," Foeslayer said, a tint of worry caught in her voice, "but don't get lost in the rainforest, there are huge predators that can get you."
Peacemaker shivered, he saw that path, but he didn't clearly understand what it meant, he had sparkly clear visions of being eaten by a panther if he took a wrong turn, but also visions of meeting Moon. He didn't understand what it all meant.
Foeslayer told him, of course.
"You can see the future, you are a prophet," she had explained.
"But.. mommy, I'm having all these weird visions that aren't mine all the time! You said that's not how it worked." Peacemaker blabbered, starting to cry.
"That's because you are a gifted prophet, you have the strongest prophecy any nightwing has ever had since Clearsight!" She had said.
"None of the other dragonets want to play with me..." Peacemaker said, beginning to bawl his eyes out.
"Go along now," Foeslayer said hurriedly, ushering Peacemaker out the door, "I'm sure Moon will think you are lovely!"
Peacemaker sighed, and walked out the door. It was a beautiful day out, the sun was shining, the birds were calling, and the grass was so green it was almost neon. His ears perked up, listening to the sounds of wing beats. Large nightwings flew overhead, and everywhere he went, nightwings stared at him coldly. Soon, he found himself at Moon's hut, and he knocked on the wooden door with his talon.
It opened, and a larger nightwing greeted him.
This isn't the nightwing I see in my visions, Peacemaker realized.
"Where's Moon?" Peacemaker asked.
"Oh, she's at Jade Mountain Academy, she recently left to go back to school," the nightwings said, then noticing Peacemaker's disappointed face, "I'm sure you'll get to meet her soon."
"Who are you, then?" Peacemaker asked, swiveling his head to stare up at the large nightwing.
"I'm Moon's mother, Secretkeeper," she explained, bending down to pat Peacemaker's head.
The second her talon touched Peacemaker, something flashed through his head, a nightwing, running out of a volcano? She ran into a couple of other nightwings, then swept through and out into the rainforest. When she got there, she seemed to be searching for something. And then, Peacemaker saw an egg, ebony black, turn silver right before his eyes, and then a dragonet popped out, the one who was Moon.
He covered his face with his talons and yelped, and Secretkeeper took a step back.
"Are you okay?" Secretkeeper asked, her voice filled with fear, lifting Peacemaker's talons to her own.
"Fine," Peacemaker squeaked.
"You should go to the healers, they might know what to do," Secretkeeper suggested, pointing a claw at the undergrowth of the rainforest.
"Yeah," Peacemaker said, bounding over and through into the many, many trees.
From his visions, he knew how to get to the rainwings side of the rainforest.
He saw the many bending paths that would lead him to certain doom, and the paths where he found the rainwings, he saw visions of him being mauled by predators, and visions of getting lost in the humongous rainforest.
