Alexandra POV

It has been 5 years since O'Conner walked into my family's life and destroyed it. I am 13 now. For 5 years every August, I would go to my old house and stay with aunt Mia until the end of the school year and then stay with Mom till school starts again. I haven't seen dad since the day we left. So much had happened in those five years, I started middle school and got my first boyfriend. I also learned to drive last summer it might not be legal but now my mom and I can bond over cars and I feel closer to my family.

I was currently sitting in the small café that we used to own but as soon as everyone aunt Mia had to sell it because she couldn't run it by herself. I see a black car pull up I gather my stuff and get in the driver's seat and as I look over I see my mom smirking at me.

"Alright school ends in less than a month why did you feel the need to come to get me early?" I ask slightly annoyed.

"Nothing big I only just found your Dad," she said sassily.

"You can tell me the details on the way, drive," I said.

"Alright then," she said smiling.

We had been driving for what felt like forever. We were in the Dominican when we finally pulled up outside some party.

"Stay here I will go find him," my mom said as she exited the car. She came out about 15 minutes later hand in hand with someone. I got out of the car and came face to face with my dad.

"Hi," I said awkwardly.

He didn't respond he just grabbed me and pulled me into him for a hug. As he hugged me he whispered, "I missed you so much".

At that moment everything felt so perfect I was with my parents, we were all together, and nothing else mattered. I wish I would learn though that nothing good stays for long especially for our family.

Timeskip

We've been in the Dominican Republic for almost 2 weeks. It was crazy to me. Right now I should be in school but instead, I am thousands of miles away in the backseat of my dad's car getting ready to help him and my mom steal a few thousand gallons of gas.

We were riding down the hills of the Dominican hills following the truck. I was in the first car with both of my parents, Han, and some girl in the car behind us, and Tego and Rico in the car behind them.

"All right, we're good to go." my dad said into his walkie talkie.

"You got this," my dad asked mom.

"You bet your ass, bubba she said as she kissed him "Love you," she said to me as she climbed out the window onto the hood. "Let's make some money!" she yelled.

"Everyone in position" dad said into his walkie talkie. He turned around and looked at me "Are you sure you can do this?" he asked me.

"I will be fine and besides I probably won't even go out there. I am just back-up"

"I know," he said smiling. We both knew mom could handle almost anything and she would. Mom was now on the hood and ready to go.

"I thought we'd be robbing banks by now not some gas truck in the middle of nowhere" Han said through my earpiece.

"Down here, gas is gold, bubba" mom responded to him.

"Yeah, but banks don't move" Tego pointed out. The next thing we heard was the radio squeal and the two arguing with each other.

"Kill the chatter! Game time" dad said.

"I wouldn't piss him off, guys," mom said as she hopped onto the back of the truck.
