CHAPTER THREE

↪AIGGIE'S A BITCH↩

LIGHT STREAMED INTO the messy living room, illuminating the sleepy figures on the pullout couch. Lyssa and JJ shared John B's pullout, both of them sleeping over. The party last night at John B's left her completely wrecked. Everyone on the island who knew of Lyssa Harper, knew she could drink and smoke like her life depended on it.

She knew going home shit-face wasn't going to end well - it never did.

John B had stumbled out of his room, quickly figuring out that hurricane Agatha had not only taken out the power but also the cell towers in the process. He slapped JJ's leg, who was laying on top of Lyssa, his head pressed into the crook of her neck. "Yo, JJ, Lyssa, ya'll been outside?"

"I have polio, bro. I can't walk." JJ mumbled into her neck, causing goosebumps to rise on her skin.

"And, I have a heavy ass human being on me. I can barely breathe." added Lyssa lazily. JJ rolled to the side, sprawling out on the bed and groaning in response. She rubbed her eyes in attempt to wake herself up before sitting up. "Time to wake up, J" she whispered softy, running a hand through his messy blonde hair.

She ignored his groggy protest and got up from the pullout. "I'm cold, get back in here."

"J, it's like 100 degrees." she remarked, slipping into a pair of denim shorts she discarded last night due to the heat. She stepped onto the porch, eyeing the damage - a tree had been uprooted from its place in the ground, and twigs and sticks littered the ground. "Holy shit, Johnny, your lawn looks like shit."

"Thanks for stating the obvious." John B remarked.

"Agatha did some work, huh?" JJ said, appearing beside Lyssa.

"Yeah, she did."

JJ took a sip of his beer, letting out a blech after. Lyssa grimaced turning to look at him, "You're disgusting." she said, hopping down the last steps of the porch and joining John B to clear the HMS Pogue from debris.
