CHAPTER FIVE

↪IT'S THE FUCKIN' 1 2↩

AS ADVISED BY Kie, the Pogues decide to try and report the wreckage to the coast guards. Upon arrival, the group of teens took notice of how many people were actually there - it was a lot and they definitely didn't look happy.

Lyssa and Kie sat on the railing outside - deciding to sit this one out, while the boys went inside. She placed her joint between her lips as she began to tie a bandana on her head. She almost snorted when she heard someone yell about 'kanine diabetes'.

"I saw your dad the other day." Kie finally spoke up, twiddling with her bracelets as she looked out into the water.

Lyssa scoffed under her breath. "What did he want?" she questioned, starring at the joint in her hand. The messy divorce between her parents had been the island gossip for quite sometime - it wasn't everyday the people of the island got to witness a father from the cut having an affair with some rich kook, then kicking his wife, but most importantly his kid to the curb. It didn't help that her mom then became a ranging alcoholic.

"Just wanted to know how you were doing." Kie responded, making Lyssa roll her eyes. "I told him, he knows where you live and should make it his effort to talk to you, not ask your friends about you."

Lyssa looked over at Kie, giving her a small smile. "Thanks."

Kie simply shrugged. "What are best friends for. And I've been meaning to ask you, where did you get your bathing suit?"

A sly grin crossed Lyssa's features. "Some kook store, it was free." she answered.

Kie features dropped at the girls words. "You stole it, didn't you?"

"I prefer the word borrow and how else am I suppose to afford things. My mom spends all her child support checks on alcohol." she simply answered, not making it a big deal.
