Steve's POV

War...

It's not necessary.

I can even go on to say it's not even the right course of action.

It's a solution for the insane, the powerful. A test and a battle to prove who is the strongest.

And while the rich dine after every win the poor are left for dead, left to bury their loved ones, left in pain and distraught while the rich sleep soundly in their beds.

A kingdom isn't an enemy, a ruler isn't an enemy, War is the enemy and yet no one can see that... nobody believes that there can be a peaceful solution.

I've thought over and over about which side I'm on, I've thought about how Notch's people are treated, the way they suffer. The way he tortures his people but how am I meant to defy a God. What would happen to me If I did? What would happen to Alex?

These thoughts raced through my mind as I walk towards the border, seconds away from the inevitable...

War...

==========================

Y/n POV

We saw it coming, we were prepared, it wasn't a surprise. Although my mind was still racing, panicking from the previous few seconds.

I was walking with Herobrine down one of the hallways close to the glassless windows. We were talking about things, mostly books and strategies for fighting that would be useful if there was a battle. That's when we saw the fires that started to appear on the Nether fortress. Each towers connected to it was alit with a blue flame the fires popping up one after the other. Herobrine and I stood for a minute then looked at each other, it was time, there was no turning back now. Notch had started the battle and we were determined to finish it.

"What are your orders?"

He looked at me seemingly thinking about how to go about this.

"Right now the Generals would have gotten the warning and the army has already been prepared. They've been waiting for this." he sighed and then continued.
"I want you to go to my office and stay there. Do not leave until I come and get you or you know it's absolutely safe so you understand."

"But I can he-" I opened my mouth to protest but was cut off.

"Please listen to me..." he turned around to look at me with a desperate look. "Stay in my office... please... until I know it's safe... do, you understand."

I looked at him sighed and then nodded, then we both parted ways. I looked back over my shoulder once more only to not see him there. He must have teleported, I thought to myself as I made my way to his office.
I understand his worry, I am very valuable to Notch and he's determined to get me back but on the other hand I can help.

I hate being helpless...

I hate being vulnerable...

What am I meant to do... sit around and worry while people are fighting?

I walked in through the the doors that seemed to lock as I entered. I was worried, anxious, scared, feelings were piling up. I sat down by the fire place and closed my eyes. I need to stay calm, just breathe. Steady your breathing. It'll be ok. We're prepared.

Herobrine's POV

I had met Notch in Soul Sand Vally, my army cutting them off from the rest of the Nether, I had ordered them to keep Notch and his men in soul sand Vally while people from the viallaged were evacuated. We needed to keep them as far away from the villages as possible.
Notch had entered with Steve and Alex by his side, that same cocky smirk he wear every battle was spread across his face.

"Hello little brother" he said with that smile still plastered on his face.

"Hello Notch" I replied with venom in my voice.

"You know... you can easily end this silly little battle, hand her over and we'll be on our way." he said.

"What so you can torture her more, use her, lock her in a cage like my people. She is like everyone of my subjects. She hates you just as much and like everyone of my subjuscts I intend to protect her form you. I'm not the one that started this silly battle but I am going to be the one to finish it." I said.

His cocky smile disappeared and he was left with an annoyed expression.

"Fine then brother you leave me with no choice"

The battle has started, no turning back now...

{Timeskip}

If felt like hours we had been fighting, each hit wounding the other but not fatally hurting us. It went back a forth us teleporting trying to hit the other until he teleported and did t reappear. I looked around waiting for him to Strike for a minute.

He didn't...

He didn't teleport to my back, left or right.

He didn't teleport above me or in front of me.

I was confused... until I realised what I had done.

Notch can't teleport into my office, but he can teleport outside it and use a simple spell to unlock it.

I gasped as the sudden realisation hit me and I teleported away.

I was such a fool...

I left y/n in a trap... that's exactly what he wanted.
