CHAPTER 21

Thalia Axhiana Veron

Nakatitig lang ako sa kawalan nang may biglang pumukaw ng katahimikan na bumabalot sa aking kapaligiran na siyang dahilan upang bumalik ang aking sarili sa realidad.

"Are you okay now?"

"Oh Cody?" I pointed a finger at him.

"Oh Thalia?" He also pointed out his forefinger back at me and occupied the empty space of the bench beside me.

"Do you like him?" he asked out of the sudden. Gusto sino?

I furrowed my brows. "Huh?" His question was uncertain, so I've had a hard time to figure out who's the person he was referring to.

Cody seemed to observe the turmoil flickered onto my face so he revised his question into a specific one. And my complexion turned into dismal.

"Do you like Hades?"

It's just a yes or no to answer his question, but I didn't know what I was supposed to choose. Do I like him? Yes or No? I don't know...

My eyes suddenly felt a bit of sore. It seems like launching to shred tears again. Pisti, bakit parang ang sensitive ko na pagdating sa kanya? Damn Hades! Bakit ganito ako? Anong ginawa mo sa akin?

"I like you and I know you like me too," he blurted out. My eyes dilated due to his unexpected confession as I glimpse a gloom in his eyes. "before..." he added and gave me a half smile.

"Ganoon ba ako kahalata non?" I whispered. As far as I know, wala naman akong ginawang mga way para magpapansin sa kanya. I bet napansin niya yung mga odd actions ko noong nagkatabi kami ng upuan. Baka nga.

He wagged his head. "Nope, but I often observe you so it's a yes for me. And I always caught how you used to do cute reactions whenever you're staring at me."

"Ah.." I just made that kind of sound. Wala akong masabi. If he just did this confession ahead from this juncture, in the time where Hades didn't yet enter the scene maybe I could give him the chance to work out things between us. Possibly, I could leap like a kangaroo and my heart would explode due to excessive bliss because after a long run of time my ultimate crush eventually reciprocated my affection for him.

He cleared his throat and wore his usual animated smile. "Can we at least be friends? 'Di man tayo nag-click as a couple dahil pareho tayong 'di umaamin sa isa't-isa dati. I think we'll be able to fit as friends?" He bit his lower lip to suppress his chuckles. Parehong 'di umaamin sa isa't-isa? Damn, babae ako so I wouldn't really indulge myself to make the first move.

"Huh? Hindi ba awkward yun?" natatawang ani ko.

He crooked his head. "Awkward? If you still have feelings, then there's a greater possibility that you would feel that. Why do you still have a little crush on me?" Candidly, nagulat ako nang narinig kong sinabi niya yan. This was the first time, I heard him somewhat flirty.

"Lol. Wala na. Ikaw, meron pa?"

He nodded. "Meron pa, but don't worry I could fight the urge to do something that might destruct you. I don't have any plans to bother you."

"I didn't know, you're straightforward."

"Oo nga e, edi sana umamin na ako sayo dati pa." He kidded, and chuckled. Sana nga, umamin ka na lang.

I gave him a smile.

Inalok niya ang kanyang kamay sa akin. "Friends?" tanong nito at agad ko namang tinanggap ang kanyang kamay saka tumango.

After that day, Cody and I often greet each other. Unlike dati na para kaming mga hangin sa isa't isa. Madalas na nga rin kami nakakapag-usap, napaka-comforting niya kasama at nalaman kong may sense of humor din pala siya.

"Woi Thalia, tell me may something ba kayo nung Cody?" usisa ni Shiela. Damn, honestly 'di lang siya yung unang taong nagtanong sa akin niyan. The rumors about Cody being together with me almost spread out throughout the campus. Yes, throughout the campus talaga, 'di lang sa department namin.

I wagged my head. "Wala."

"If I'm not mistaken, diba isa siya sa mga kaibigan ni Hades?"

I nodded.

"Ang iisyu ng mga tao nu. We both know naman, kay Hades ka na and you wouldn't betray him. Yie! By the way, kumusta na pala kayo nun?" pang-aasar nito at sinundot pa ang aking tagiliran.

I suddenly lost my mood. My expression went to dreary one. Kumusta na kami ni Hades? Ayun, it's been a week since we're ignoring each other. Ayaw niya mag-first move, ayaw ko rin mag-first move. Edi sige go, palakasan kami ng ego.

I bit my lip when I realized something. I remember I'm the one who asked him the favor to stay away from me, but why he didn't whine? Perhaps, he already anticipated that there's a tons of girls out there better than me, so why would he bother to chase me? Baka nga, dami niyang mga options.

Shiela held my shoulder and shake it off. "Thalia! It seems like your in the verge of drowning. Umahon ka na, lalim ng iniisip mo e."

"Ah-eh...I'll go ahead na Shiela, may next class pa kasi ako." Pag-papaalam ko rito at agad siyang iniwan. Ayaw kong pag-usapan si Hades, nasisira lang ang mood ko.

"Thalia, girlfriend!" someone shouted along the hallway that caught the attention of everyone.

I looked at him with confusion. "Damn, you're sprouting nonsense!" I mouthed at him, but he just gave me a smile and wrapped his arm around my shoulders.

"Trip mo?" saad ko rito habang sinusubukang alisin ang braso niya sa aking balikat. "Stop making a scene here! They're eyeing us!"

"Girlfriend daw kita e," natatawang bulong nito. "Actually ngayon ko lang nalaman na tayo pala."

"Pisti na mga chismosa't chismoso yan. I can't really understand, why most of the people wants to stick their nose on other's business, instead on their own?!"

"Nature na talaga nila yun." .

"Yeah, at nakakaasar kasi they're wasting their time minding other's businesses, but always ended up making a false conclusion."

"And you know what's worst? Tons of girls wanted to tweak my hair after they heard that rumor. Lalo na yung ex-girlfriend mo parang gusto na akong patayin. So scared, baka mas mapa-aga yung eradication ng existence ko rito sa mundo." Pabiro kong tinapik ang aking chest.

"Well, you can't blame them." Tinapik niya ang kanyang mukha.

"Yuck, the audacity Cody!"

"Why? Kaya nga diba..."

"Ang hangin! Monsoon ka?" I said with sarcasm.

"Bakit? 'Di ba?

"Let's cut off this conversation, nagiging cr---" My words were cut off when a familiar voice suddenly interrupted.

"Are you just going to flirt in the middle of the hallway? Don't you have any plans to go to our next class?" Hades drearily said while staring at me and Cody with a glimpse of irritation in his eyes.
