Chapter 8 – Deserve to know his background

"But you are very curious about it," Ashley said. He shot her a look to tell her to shut up, but it was too fun to stop teasing him now.

Kyle was completely clueless. "You can ask me anything."

"Since he's too shy to ask, I will ask for him," Ashley said, and Sean shot her an even scarier glare.

Kyle laughed. "This is the first time for me to see him being shy."

Smiling, Ashley kept her eyes locked on Sean, who was daring her to speak nonsense and to be punished later by him. "He wanted to ask... about Jean."

The relief on Sean's face was quite obvious, and it made Ashley laugh out loud. Sean gave her a look that promised she would pay for what she had done.

"I don't know much about Jean. I only saw her once or twice." Kyle chuckled. "But what about her do you want to know?"

"Why don't we start with her appearance? I don't see any pictures of her anywhere. Maybe Sean is jealous of her beauty and does not wish to share it with his visitors?" Ashley joked, trying to lighten up the mood.

But Kyle stared at her knowingly. "Sean wants to know about it or you want to know about it?"

Ashley held up her chin, not at all embarrassed at being caught. "Both of us. Any problem with it?"

Kyle snickered in amusement. "No problem at all."

Even when they were on the topic of Jean, the husband did not look interested in it.

"Jean looks a lot like a live version Barbie doll. No offense, but that's the truth. She has blond hair and blue eyes. She's shorter than you." Kyle nodded towards Ashley. "But she wears those crazy high heels to make her look taller."

"That doesn't really help with recovering my memories," Sean pointed out.

"Maybe we should do something physically for a change," Kyle suggested with an evil intention. "We could make you stand in the middle of the road and wait for a car to knock you down. That might recover your memories."

Ashley laughed at Kyle's obvious joke, but Sean was far from appreciating it and gave him a nasty glare. "Are you trying to be funny?"

While it was kind of funny, Ashley knew they should stop, or Sean would storm out or throw Kyle out of his house. She stopped laughing, making an effort to look serious. "Sean, Kyle is here to help you recover your memories."

"Help?" Sean sneered at the smiling Kyle. "He's not being serious at all!"

Kyle shrugged. "I thought it would do us all good if I tried to lighten up the mood. You never used to mind me doing so."

"It's a waste of time," Sean said coolly and stood up. "I'm not interested in remembering anything."

"What?" Ashley gaped in disbelief. "You don't mean that!"

"I mean it," Sean said in a clear and determined tone. "You are my wife, and I only care about you and not some other woman."

"We are divorced." Ashley rolled her eyes. "I'd rather spend my time working than wasting time trying to help you recover your memories. Since you don't want to remember anything, I will no longer insist on it. I get to go back, and you can do whatever you want."

Sean clearly did not want Ashley to go back, and he could only reluctantly compromise. "Fine, I will try to remember. Just don't go."

But both of them knew Ashley would be leaving as soon as Sean recovered his memories.
