Chapter 29 - Jean Wander

She hardly knew about Mason's background, but one thing she knew was that he shared a few similar traits with Sean. Determination and hard will to do anything to get what they wanted. Mason used to joke that he gets everything done the legal way, of course.

"This is Jean," Mason introduced the blonde woman beside him.

"Jean?" Ashley's tone unconsciously sharpened. It would not be strange for anyone to share the same name as Sean's wife.

But blonde? Smiling nervously at her?

This woman must be Sean's wife.

Naturally, Ashley would not have a good expression towards the woman who had a hand in destroying her marriage, whether she was an innocent party or not.

"I'm Jean Wander. You must be Ashley. Mason and Sean talked a lot about you," Jean said with a warm smile.

"He must have said bad things about me," Ashley said lightly.

"Why would I speak badly about the woman I love?" Sean said, and Ashley stared at him in disbelief.

How in the bloody hell could he say that in front of his wife?

Ashley glanced at Jean, but there was no hint of jealousy or anger at her husband's words. Does that mean the divorce was mutually agreed upon?

Ashley suddenly felt a little sympathy for Sean, who had agreed to marry a woman who loved another just for the sake of his son. However, she did not dare claim that Sean might not be in love with Jean once.

How could one sleep with another without feeling some attraction?

"You did not tell her everything?" Jean asked Sean in shock when she saw Ashley's confused look.

"I will tell her everything after our divorce procedure is done."

Jean looked worried and hesitated for more than a few seconds before she said, "Thank you."

By now, not only Ashley was curious, but the rest of the Summer family members that had been silently watching on the side were too. Because from what they could see, it was as if Jean had wronged Sean in their relationship.

It was also because of that, Ashley's dissatisfaction with Sean's silence also reduced quite a bit, but her resentment towards Jean grew.

Even if Ashley disliked Jean, she was brought over by Sean to help.

From what she could remember, Jean was also working for Sean's company, which meant she had the skill. Ashley had to push her emotions to the backseat. The main priority was to prevent Gio from harming her family.

Someone emerged from the direction of the restroom, whom she recognized as Kyle, who was guiding a child by the hand.

"Daddy!" The little boy pulled away from Kyle's hand and leaped onto Sean's legs.

"Simon." Sean's face visibly brightened, and he pulled the little boy into his arms.

At the warm sight, Ashley's pupils shook fiercely. The scene reminded her of bad memories and the knowledge that Jean had given Sean what he wanted, judging from his happy face. It also served as a reminder that they could never be together again, not with the baggage between them.

Their children laughing around them, eager for their love and attention... was only an unattainable dream.

Mrs. Summer gasped softly, her eyes going back and forth between the boy and Sean. Advin Summer was as shocked as his wife. He could see that his daughter did not seem overly surprised at the presence of the boy, likely to have already known about his existence. The boy must be one of the reasons for the divorce, as his age fitted the timeline of their divorce.
