22. Escape

Showing some papers, she said “I had this doubt from the beginning. There was something missing in the entire tale. So I investigated it privately. The details are accurate. This is what the killer wanted us to find out. But we were late. He escaped. But I'm damn sure that 9th April will be the last day for him on this Earth.”

Ranvijay checked everything and then said, “I guess it's time the Raizada family knows what is going on.”
Everyone nodded.

29th March 2020 , after Arnav left the guesthouse

“He just left the room”.

“Ok, tell Kushi not to follow him. Neil is on his trail. Vasundhara will take care of the rest”

“Done, Sheetal, all set?”

“Yes Chief, Dev and Ajay have the back up. Sona and Lavanya will be there. I've got them covered.”

“Ok, target needs to be alive. Don't mess up. Finish up the job, get the details, keep him in our safe house. Tomorrow morning, we need to visit the guesthouse. Is that clear?”

Everyone “yes Chief!!”

Somewhere in the outskirts of Delhi, in a dilapidated building

A man was shouting at his subordinates. He stopped pacing around and closed his eyes for a few seconds, and then walked hurriedly towards a room.

Neil, who had followed Arnav, signaled Ajay and Dev. Their team was ready. On the count of 3, they fired at once.

As silently as they came, they finished the job without even one sound. In slow steps, the men approached the same room in which ASR had disappeared, only to hear hushed voices. Thinking of surprising ASR, Ranvijay entered the room, only to get surprised.

The room was empty. His eyes turned red in anger.

“No!!! Search the entire house, we have been fooled!!! He couldn't have escaped. Team!! Round up, ask for another back up team, ASAP.”

He kept giving instructions and ran towards the backyard, only to be disappointed. Firing a series of instructions to his subordinates, he sat on the steps.

After a few minutes, he looked up on hearing footsteps.

Vasundhara’s grim look told him that their mission was a failure.

Rubbing his face, he walked away without informing anything.

Understanding his plight, the rest of the team completed the formalities.

"Ranvijay, we have to put up the act tomorrow. That will definitely trigger the family and may be, we can get some clue."

He just nodded.

2nd April  2020

“Chief, the tape recorder has no fingerprints. Except for the recording, there is nothing in it. The whole building is being searched and the forensics have been on it without any break. I fear that this mission has….”

Sheetal's unspoken words were increasing his temper. Ranvijay nodded his head, not wanting to show his ire at her.

After she went away, Vasundhara approached him and informed him “the doctors have given the needed proof. And our team was able to retrieve the photographs. It's about time.”

His eyes widened and he said, “let's wait till Mrs. Devyani Raizada returns home. Meanwhile, I want our team to be alert. Kushi will definitely try to search that abandoned building. Keep an eye on her. Any information from the check posts?”
