Following the awkward encounter with Lan Zhan the night before, Wei Ying was now funnily enough, not as scared as he thought he'd be when finding out something as absurd as a werewolf being real.
The idea of having a hot attractive werewolf living next door made his insides stir with naughty thoughts he didn't know how to explain.
Wei Ying wanted to tell Jiang Cheng all about his newfound information. However, he knew his brother wouldn't take too kindly to him sneaking off alone at night, and he'd promised Lan Zhan he would keep the werewolf's secrets.
Wei Ying didn't know why he was keeping that promise, it just felt wrong if he were to reveal Lan Zhan's secret.
----------
Standing in the backyard of his home, Wei Ying gripped tightly upon a bunch of crumpled up papers - the script for his upcoming play in Romeo and Juliet, and shoving them back into his pant pocket.
He'd spent all day practicing, yet his efforts went in vain. He just couldn't get the damn line to perfection. And to make matters worse, Jiang Cheng had shoved a gardening hoe and rake in his hand earlier, pointing him to the backyard to clean up the mess he'd caused a few nights ago when Wei Ying had decided to turn full-on Usain Bolt and jumped over their back fence, and soiling up their flower beds to get away from whatever growling sound he claimed to have heard.
"Stupid Jiang Cheng," Wei Ying complained to himself, digging deeper into the ground with the gardening hoe, "stupid script."
Huffing in annoyance, Wei Ying pulled out back the pile of papers from his pocket, "why can't I get the damn thing right?" Although his voice stood in character, it was still not sounding quite right. It needed to be perfect, why wasn't it perfect goddammit?
Mumbling incorrect words to himself, Wei Ying failed to realize golden molted eyes had been watching him for the past hour.
Lan Zhan didn't mean to stare, he came out for the Sunday's newspaper he'd forgotten to pick up from his front porch the morning. It wasn't his fault Wei Ying happened to be standing in his backyard looking breathtaking as ever. It's all Wei Ying's fault.
Realizing he'd been staring for far too long, Lan Zhan decided he should talk to Wei Ying.
Lan Zhan gulped, walking up to his neighbor's backyard and jumping the fence as if he owned the place. Seeing Wei Ying being caught up stabbing the earth in utter frustration to notice his presence, Lan Zhan smiled.
Clearing his throat, "Wei Ying," Lan Zhan announced.
And like a child's jack-in-the-box toy, Wei Ying jumped out of his flesh, stumbling and falling over the garden rake he'd left on the soil. Luckily for him, silk hands were there to catch him before he could hit the ground.
Wei Ying gasped upon seeing Lan Zhan's face inches away from his own.
"Are you alright?" Lan Zhan whispered like honey drops on a summer day beside Wei Ying's ear.
Clearing his throat, "I'm okay." Wei Ying whispered back, removing himself from Lan Zhan's hold. "The-thank you," Wei Ying distanced himself, "What are you doing in our yard?"
"I -" Lan Wangji blushed, too embarrassed to tell Wei Ying he'd been secretly watching the younger man under his porch for the past hour as Wei Ying practiced his lines while creating unnecessary holes in his garden. "Wei Ying," Lan Zhan gulped, he can't believe what he's about to ask. "Do you think you can come over tonight?"
"Why so soon?" Wei Ying questioned, lifting an eyebrow, "Don't you think that's a bit weird?"
"I wasn't lying last night." Lan Zhan said, "I want to get to know you, and maybe, you might want to get to know me?"
A glint of sadness was spoken with those words. Up until now, Lan Zhan hadn't noticed how lonely he actually felt, and a friend - Wei Ying, was all he needed. That's what Lan Zhan believed anyway.
At that point, an unfamiliar feeling pierced through Wei Ying's rapidly beating heart. A feeling of belonging. Lan Zhan's words definitely had an unusual impact on him. Wei Ying gulped, a portion of him wanted to believe Lan Zhan, so with a faint nod, Wei Ying flushed bright red and agreed once again.
Lan Zhan left, a warmth of happiness wrapped around him, so much so, he didn't realize the moon would be out once again.
----------
When night arrived, just before midnight Wei Ying snuck out of bed, making sure to place a few pillows under the covers before he made his way over to Lan Zhan's place. Unaware to him, that behind the clouded night sky, the moon still shines bright.
Tapping against the wooden doors, the thumps of Wei Ying's fists mimicked through its walls. A gust of wind was all it took for Wei Ying to shiver against the harsh night air.
"Lan Zhan?" Wei Ying whispered against the doors, "Let me in."
As though his silent cries were heard, the door creaked open. Wei Ying hesitated for a while, until another passing wind blew by, forcing him to enter Lan Zhan's home.
Wei Ying wandered about, unaware and naive of the dangers which lurked within the corners. "Lan Zhan?" Wei Ying whispered once again, "where are you?"
From the far corners, at the very top, inside the attic of the old home, Lan Zhan listened. Hearing the calls of Wei Ying, Lan Zhan silently cursed the younger man for coming this time in the night, for Wei Ying shouldn't be walking into his home so late at night, unguarded.
A few hours prior when the moon had reached its peak and Lan Zhan thanked the heavens Wei Ying did not come - for he didn't know what would've happened if he lost control. The older man locked himself away, preparing for his wolf to take his place.
Though his eyes may glow a bright red - revealing his alpha status, and canines which hung so low, until they pierced his flesh, Lan Zhan remained in human form. The aching pain on his body, a reminder of that.
Hearing Wei Ying's call, and sensing his intoxicating scent had only fueled Lan Zhan's burning desire to claim. Wei Ying's everything he'd ever wanted, and now that he's slowly transforming into a beast of the night, there was no doubt in Lan Zhan's mind that Wei Ying's rightfully his.
He'd always thought Wei Ying looked good, those big eyes, driving Lan Zhan mad. Those full lips Wei Ying have, that lure Lan Zhan in. That addicting laugh, which Lan Zhan could not get enough of.
Hearing footsteps reaching the attic door, Lan Zhan growled, a warning to Wei Ying not to go further. However, on the other end of the door, Wei Ying appeared to have missed said warning, as he pushed the door open.
"Lan Zhan?" Wei Ying called, stepping into the dimly lit room. "Are you in here?"
Wei Ying's terrified big silver orbs widen in panic. The younger man was aware Lan Zhan's a werewolf, but seeing the creature at first sight - teeth bared and eyes glowing for all to see, was a painful reminder of just how naive he could sometimes be to think it was a sensible idea to come over by himself in the middle of the night.
It's as though Lan Zhan had become somewhat possessed, for he was no longer himself. Seeing Wei Ying rooted to the ground, afraid and unmoving, Lan Zhan could no longer control his urges to claim Wei Ying as his own.
Lan Zhan stalked up to the trembling Wei Ying, ignoring the unnoticed tears Wei Ying seemed to be shedding due to fright. With a fleeting movement, Lan Zhan pounced upon the younger man.
Giving Wei Ying no opportunity to scream, Lan Zhan sunk his canines into the virgin flesh, until crimson drops of liquid swept through Wei Ying's flesh, rendering him speechless, and unable to make a sound.
Wei Ying cried and fought. Pushed and pulled. Whimpered and gasped, until he couldn't anymore.
Lan Zhan bit deeper, harsher. Much like a maniac, he continued to latch onto the flesh until Wei Ying passed out within his arms.
