"Anything new?-" Isabelle asked when she joined us in the Ops Center, where we were all surrounded around a table."Nope." I popped the 'p', shaking my head just once, "We tried tracking him together, like we did with Jonathan, but- of course, for some reason it didn't work."
Jace nodded just once, "Magnus's wards are up, Valentine must still be in the city."
Isabelle exhales slow, looking between us, "Thank the Angel for Magnus and the warlocks."
I gave her the side eye, putting a strand of my hair behind my ear, "They didn't raise the wards for us."
"Teams are out doing block by block sweeps throughout the city." Isabelle sighs lightly at my words, "We'll find him."
"Whatever you say-" I turned to walk away.
"Hey-" Jace caught my arm, his voice low so only I could hear, "You doing alright?"
"Never better." I stopped and looked back at him, "My brother's dead and I'm at the verge of stripping my father from his biggest dream, I feel- amazing."
Jace exhales slow through his nose, "And what about the fact that you lost a friend and the love of your life doesn't remember who you are?"
I tried to pull my arm from his grasp, "Doing great on those things too, thanks-"
"Zee-" Jace pulled back, leaning towards me, his voice low, "He's starting to figure it out."
I go silent, staring up at him.
"He told me how he felt like you were lying to him- about the two of you knowing each other-" Jace said to me, "That he'll get senses of- deja vu- and-"
"Aerial sensors-" Alec said when the alarms started to blaring loudly, making us end our conversation and head to the monitors.
Clary asks, "Is it Valentine?-"
"No-" Isabelle replies, as we were all already on the move, "Could be some kind of wraith demon."
-
"Where is it?-" Jace asked out loud when we were in the middle of the intersection, our weapons out and reading, our backs touching as we huddled together.
Alec looks up, "It should be right on top of us-"
"Alec!-" Jace called out quickly when he spotted the flying demon in the air, circling around the buildings.
Isabelle exhales, "I've never seen a demon like that-"
"On your six!-" I shout, as we all moved in sync, looking around for the demon that kept disappearing.
Isabelle asks, "Can you see it?-"
"What the hell is it waiting for?-" Clary looks around.
Alec replies, "It's coming around for another pass-"
"Alec, twelve o'clock!-" I immediately shout when the demon was heading for us straight for us.
"I got this." Alec held his position, before pulling back on his arrow and firing at the demon, killing it.
I breathe out, "Nice-"
"Thanks-" Alec locks eyes with me.
For a few moments, we kept eye contact, an overwhelming feeling rushing through my veins, making it too much for me, as I quickly broke the connection, my head snapping towards the car beeping and the demons starting to split up.
They were too fast for us to take charge at, Clary shouting, "They're splitting up!"
-
"At least four demons are still unaccounted for." Alec walked as we were all right behind him, "Notify all available personnel."
