TW: Negative self talk, mention of injury

Third Person POV (Virgil's perspective)

Virgil woke up with a harsh flinch, disoriented for a few seconds. After taking a moment to still his racing thoughts as much as he could manage, he suddenly realized he was in an unfamiliar place with his injuries taken care of. Before he could get a chance to panic, a piece of paper slid down his shirt with a quiet rustling sound as he sat up. Finding a comfortable position to sit in without agitating his injuries, he unfolded the paper and read:

Hey Virg, don't panic, you're in me and Remus' house since we found you passed out in the park. I brought you here, but Remus stayed behind to fight those guys so i have to leave quickly to find him. if I'm not back by the time you wake up, make yourself at home

- Roman

Virgil's eyes widened as he read over the note carefully a second time.

Why? Virgil thought. Why are they always helping me?

"Wait..." Virgil mumbled under his breath, reading over the note again.

'Remus stayed behind to fight those guys'

Virgil clenched his fists as his heart rate sped up drastically.

Stupid stupid stupid, Virgil chastised himself as he dug his nails into his palms, I'm always getting people hurt. Useless. Disappointment.

Suddenly hit with a burst of energy, Virgil stood quickly from the couch he'd been on and bolted out of the front door, the aches in his body being the least of his worries. As he ran he patted his pocket, double checking that he had his phone, and continued down the sidewalk towards the park.

About 7 minutes later, Virgil crossed the street to the park and ran down the trail. It was early morning so it wasn't as dark as it had been before, and Virgil used that to his advantage as he speedily navigated the path with the light of the sun beginning to rise.

Around thirty seconds later, just as his adrenaline rush began to wear off, Virgil felt his face drain of its color at the sight infront of him. The three guys that had attacked him before were all sprawled out in different places on the ground unconcious, but that wasn't what made him grow pale. With shaking legs, Virgil approached the two figures on the ground, collapsing to his knees from exhaustion after a few steps.

"R-Roman..?" he called out, unsure of what else to do.

Roman seemed to flinch at hearing his name all of a sudden, immediately turning towards the source of the voice. Just as Roman met Virgil's eyes, Roman's eyes widened in shock. Before Roman could get a word out, Virgil glanced down at the person cradled in Roman's arms and exclaimed, "R-Remus?!"

A tear rolled down Virgil's face as he looked at the normally psychotic and ever-smiling boy to see him barely conscious in Roman's arms.
