My gaze wandered over the tri-colored horizon. My wind-swept hair blew softly in the breeze. I cracked a smile at the children playing in the shallow surf.
Peace. Peace enveloped my body and my mind in its embrace.
My concentration was broken as a hand covered my own and I turned to lay my eyes upon the culprit.
God, how handsome could a person truly be? This man before me had the perfect, crocked smile, masculine body, and a charm that no woman could resist.
"Are you cold?" he asked.
"A little bit, why don't you come over here and warm me up in those strong arms of yours?" He smirked and walked towards me to envelope me in his warm embrace.
And there's that feeling again; Peace.
His cologne and body heat surrounded me and I was beginning to feel heady, among some other stirrings further south.
Just when I started to get comfortable, his arms loosened around me and my skin prickled as the cold wind swept over my arms. I whimpered at the loss of contact and he just gave a light chuckle in response.
Then he was pacing. His legs carried him all around our large, outdoor balcony with an unreadable expression.
My thoughts on trying to decipher his facial expressions were ripped from my mind when his strong hands gripped onto my shoulders abruptly and he looked me dead in the eyes.
His stare was filled with an overwhelming tone of apprehension and I couldn't help but begin to worry.
"Look, Alex, I know we haven't known each other all that long and some would say that I'm insane for what I'm about to do." He drew in a deep breath, seemingly to steel himself before continuing.
"But those people can just go screw themselves."
Oh my god. Could it be? Oh please don't let this be a dream! Please don't let this be a dream! Please don't -
And then it happened. Ryan began to lower himself down to just one knee, that oh so precious knee.
Tears sprang to my eyes and I knew what would soon come next.
"I, Ryan Reynolds, would be greatly honored if you would do me the pleasure of making me the happiest man in the entire world and become my wife." He paused and connected his beautiful stare to mine with love shining through his eyes.
"Alexandria Merrick, who wrote the play The Cherry Orchard?"
I'm sorry?
My eyes quickly sucked back down those tears and I shot Ryan the most confused look that I could muster.
The Cherry Orchard? Who brings up Chekhov at a time like this?
"Ms. Merrick, who wrote The Cherry Orchard?" my beautiful prince asked once again but in a much louder and slightly annoying voice. He then began to shake my shoulders back and forth vigorously.
"Ryan Stop! Ryan, I will marry you if you stop this nonsense, Ryan!" I yelled.
Then, as this absurdity continued, Ryan started to slip away into nothingness and I was left stranded with a very annoying voice ringing in my ears, droning on about The Cherry Orchard.
"Ryan Reynolds, you get back here right now or we are over!" I screamed, silently hoping that he didn't hear that last part, because who in their right mind would break it off with Ryan Reynolds?
That's right. No one.
That same irritating voice seemed to get closer and closer until it was inside my head, rattling around relentlessly. It was bellowing my name.
