Gandhari and Kunti who went to Siva temple at the outskirts returned to face the most gruesome sight ,the pride of their clan  insulted ,harassed and could survive the horrific treatment only through her devotional power and self belief.
Gandhari rushed to her and hugged her just in time before Panchali could  pronounce the curse that will destroy the whole Kuru clan.' Don't curse the Kuruclan Panchali.They were already burnt by their misdeeds . Grace us Putri. "Kunti shivered with sorrow on seeing her daughter in law face the dreadful offence done by her own people.
She looked at her Eldest who ruined himself and who ruined his brothers. But above all he committed the most sinful act in the history of Kurus,staking his wife no the wife of his brothers also. King Nala in the past played the game of dice and lost his kingdom. But he never lost himself nor did he stake his wife.
. Kunti could not look at Arjun whose hands got tied up by none other than his mother. Why did she share her Bahu with all the five? To see this day on which  she was made to lose her freedom and get  insulted by her husband's own brothers?And what did her first born do? She looked at Karna who she heard is the one that instigated Duryothan to disrob Draupadi. She would certainly feel ashamed of being the mother of one who couldn't respect a woman,a mother and a wife. Gandhari approached Dhritrashtr and warned him.' Maharaj,you are physically handicapped. Now you became mentally handicapped. Do you know the repercussions of this unpardonable crime committed towards  the honour of Kurus?
Who do you think she is? She is Sakti that came to punish the evil on this earth. Redeem yourself by giving Pandavas their kingdom. Otherwise you will see before you the fire of Panchali's anger that would wipe off your Duryodhan along with the clan."
At that moment  the courtesans heard the cries of jackals and owls and the sacrificial fire that exist twenty four hours in the Worship place extinguished. The Brahmins raised their voices.' These are the indications for total destruction.The result of insulting a Pativrata and a great devotee.Certainly Kuruvamsh will meet with disaster."
Arjun saw Gandhari help Panchali stand up and take her to Dhritarashtr who getting afraid by the bad omens granted her boons. Panchali said.' Prativindhya should not be called a servant's son. Let his father get back his freedom. Relieve the remaining four with their weapons. "
She didn't ask the kingdom back. She knew with weapons in hand they can achieve whatever they lost.Dhritrashtr granted the kingdom of Pandavas back much to the dissatisfaction of  Duryodhan. Arjun bent his face in shame. She won him back his freedom and kingdom also. But what did he do? He didn't even speak a word in her support when she stood on the threshold of losing her dignity. ...
Arjun wore saffron robes for the second time after his pilgrimage.The Destiny laughed at them hinting that their trials did not end but actually commenced from then.Going against the protests of Kunti and Gandhari Yudhishtir accepted the invitation for the second dice game and lost again. This time they have to go for twelve years of exile and one year of incognito. Kunti wept uncontrollably seeing her sons and Bahu prepare to leave Hastinapur itself.
She hugged Sahadev and wailed.' Don't go Putr. You are my youngest. You be with me ,I can not live without you.Sahadev nodded his head with tears indicating he could not stay back. Panchali 's face wore a detached look as she handed over Pragati to her mother in law feeding her for the last time. She did not even have tears in her eyes.Kunti wept bitterly.' Your father and Madri passed away much before and are fortunate  not to see this day in your lives. I am the most unfortunate on this earth. I have to live away from you in this old age. I would also accompany you to the forest. " but Vidur did not agree. '
Sisterin law it is not the age for you to face the troubles of forest life. You should be with your husband's younger brother. Permit me to serve you. " Arjun took Pragati in his arms and kissed her again and again. His little princess is unaware of the happenings in their lives. So she is giggling merrily in his hands. He can not see her grow up,he can not enjoy her tantrums ...
Arjun gave her back wiping off his tears and turned his back to his mother to follow his Eldest.Kunti could not control herself. She ran to him and clasping him tight pleaded with him in broken voice,' Forgive me Phalgun"Arjun hugged her dearly and thought.' For what Mata? For sharing her against her will? If she was not shared she would have been safe like Subhadra,like Jalandhara,like Karenu,like Vijaya and finally like Devika."
