I was still in the cave and waited for Evelien to come back, but it felt like an eternity. I was scared that she might forget about me, but then I reminded myself that she would never do such a thing. She will come back I was sure of it. I just wished she was faster because I was really worried about Mark. I've lost Robin already, I don't want to lose Mark too. No matter how hard I tried to push the rock it didn't move, so my last chance was Evelien. I lied down on the ground and looked at the handprint on the wall. It broke my heart as I remembered all the memories I shared with Robin.
Flashback:
"There," said Robin as he took his hand away from the cave's wall, leaving a black handprint on it.
He looked at the little dragon beside him then back at the two handprints on the wall. He smiled and sat beside Seán to put an arm around his neck.
"This means that we will remain friends forever," he said and Seán cuddled closer to Robin's side.
Seán never thought that he would have a friend let alone a friend so kind and helpful as Robin. He felt happy and right there he made a promise that he will protect Robin no matter what. Robin hugged Seán closer too and he made the same promise Seán did because he couldn't let a creature like Seán get hurt.
"Come on let's play something," said Robin as he stood up and left the cave with Seán in his track.
Robin quickly grabbed a stick from the ground and turned back to Seán with an evil grin on his face. Seán smiled wickedly too as he stood in front of Robin, waiting for the boy to attack first. They loved playing together, and their favorite one was where they pretended to be enemies and would fight with each other, of course being careful not to hurt the other. Robin raised the stick as it would be a sword and charged at Seán with a loud scream. Seán jumped away from him and with a quick swap with his tail, he made Robin fall on his butt. Seán smiled widely at the fall, but Robin didn't give up and attacked Seán with his bare hands, wrestling with the little dragon on the ground. After a few slight punches, Seán pinned Robin down and smiled at his friend, before straightened in victory.
"Fine, you won," said Robin, and Seán helped his friend on his feet. "Now let's fly."
At that Seán became scared and looked at Rodin with fearful eyes, telling his friend that he wasn't sure about his idea.
"Come on," said Robin encouraging Seán. "I know you fell from the tree last time, but you will have to learn it someday."
Robin was right, so with the little courage left in Seán, they started walking to the waterfall that was close by. When they arrive they stood at the edge of the cliff beside the waterfall and watched as the water fell from the cliff into the little pond below them. Seán took a few steps back and his fear of heights took over in him. Robin saw on his friend that he really didn't want to do it, so he kneeled in front of his friend and looked into his eyes.
"I'm here, don't worry," said Robin, and Seán turned his gaze from the waterfall to Robin. "I go down there and wait for you there. And if you fall again I'll catch you, alright?"
Seán was still unsure, but he trusted his friend so he took a deep breath and closed his eyes to close out his fear from his mind. He listened to the water hitting the rocks at the bottom of the waterfall and it made him calm. When he felt ready he opened his eyes again and nodded to Robin. Robin stood up with a reassuring smile and started walking down on the path that went through the forest and would lead eventually to the pond where the waterfall ended. Then he walked closer to the cliff and looked up at Seán, still smiling at him. He extended his hands like he was ready if Seán would actually fall.
"Just focus," shouted Robin and kept smiling at Seán. "Extend your wings and think about good memories."
Seán closed his eye and just listened to the water again, letting the happy memories with his friend flow through him. He slowly extended his wings and took a deep breath before he opened his eye and jumped down from the cliff. At first, he panicked, but when he saw Robin's face he became confident again. Before he could realize what happened he heard Robin's cheering so he looked beneath him. He was flying. He looked at his wing and felt as they caught the air, making him able to fly. He became happy and excited at the same time and this excitement encouraged him to fly higher and take a few rounds around the area. He started flying back into the forest and he still heard his friend's shouting from below him. When he looked back he saw as Robin was running after him so Seán descended a bit to be closer to his friend. Robin suddenly stopped though because he became tired so Seán took a turn and flew back to his friend. He tried to slow down when he was getting closer to Robin, but he didn't really know how to so he ended up colliding with Robin. Robin growled in pain, but he just laughed after that and he looked happy too.
"You did it," said Robin, and Seán rolled off of him with happiness. "I'm really proud of you."
End of flashback
My eyes were filled with tears as I remembered my happiest memory about Robin and I didn't even try to hold these tears back. Instead, I let it flow through me, because now that he was gone these were the only things left for me about him. Maybe he wasn't here with me on my side, but he will always be here with me in my heart and memories, just like mother. Humans can take my loved ones away from me, but they can not take the memories of them.
I took a deep breath to get myself together when I heard footsteps coming from outside. I quickly stood up and went up to the rock to check who was here and I saw Evelien's brown eyes.
"Get away from the rock as far as possible," she said, so I went to the far end of the cave.
I didn't know what happened but an explosion shook the rock and it broke into two pieces. I went back the to rock and made sure that Evelien was out of the way before I pushed on one of the pieces and it fell on the ground loudly, letting me free. I squeezed through the gap and soon I was out from the cave. She quickly ran up to me and hugged my neck tightly. She must've worried about me, I could feel as her heartbeat quickened. I gently placed my chin on her shoulder to kind of hug her back and comfort her. That was when I saw this other woman standing behind Evelien. I stepped back from the hug and looked at Evelien then back at the woman and she followed my gaze.
"Don't worry, she is a friend," she explained and the blonde woman smiled at me. "She is the mermaid Mark met with."
When she said that I examined the blonde woman more. Her golden hair perfectly hit her shoulders and her eyes were shining with a vibrant blue. I understood why Mark fell in love with her; she was beautiful, but my heart was someone else's and that woman stood beside me. Suddenly the mermaid started walking towards me and extended her hand to touch me so I backed away from her, but Evelien put her hand on my cheek to stop me. I didn't understand what was going on, but all I felt was the mermaid as she put her palm on my head, but she backed away as soon as she touched my head. She looked back at me and smiled at me.
"It's nice to finally meet you, Jack," she said as she smiled more, but her mouth wasn't moving during her talk.
"Why do I hear you in my head?" I asked from her then looked at Evelien on my right in confusion.
"So we can understand you," explained Amy, but what actually was happening was that we were standing in the middle of the forest, looking at each other in silence. "Evelien told me to do this, so you can tell us what happened to Mark."
