Since Odin's decision for Freyja to marry Thor, and to put Loki in the prisons, things have been more gloomy in the palace. Thor had left to fix the destruction left behind, by Loki in the realms, while Freyja was once again left to her own sadness. She hadn't left her chambers much since the day in the throne room. Frigga would sometimes pass by to try and cheer her up, but nothing seemed to work.
Everytime Frigga would go visit Loki, Freyja would give her a message for him, but he never responded to them, yet she never stopped. There were so many times she wished she could go down to see him herself, but she did not want to anger Odin. She had never felt so powerless, so vulnerable and lost, not since the day Thor had knocked at her door to announce Loki's presumed death.
The events that had started the domino effect of bad events regarding Loki, had been one of the hardest times for her. She watched as the love of her life, slowly lost himself to darkness and she hadn't even realised soon enough to stop the damage. Before she knew it, she was in her chambers, braiding her hair, when there was a knock at her door. As she opened it, worry settled on her face as she saw Thor with a look of sadness and as he told her what happened, her whole world shattered.
And as she finds herself once again in a situation, where her world seemed to have been shattered even more, all she wants to do is run to him. A knock at her door interrupts her thoughts and she makes her way to them, before opening them to reveal Frigga.
"Freyja. Do you trust me?" Frigga asks, urgency in her voice, making Freyja look at her in worry as she lets the queen into her room.
"Why, of course. Why would you ever question that?" She asks in return, closing the door as Frigga makes her way to the middle of the room and Freyja stands in front of her.
"I know a way for you to see Loki." Frigga announces, making Freyja's eyes widen as she perks up at this. "But you must not tell anyone. And you must understand, that he may not welcome you warmly."
"It does not matter at this point. I just need to see him." Freyja breaths out, making Frigga nod in understanding as she takes hold of the goddess of love's hands. All of a sudden Freyja's surrounding's change and she's in a dungeon cell. She takes a look around, before she notices Loki look out, his back towards her.
"What are you doing here?" Loki asks as he turns around, an illusion of him staying in the same position. Freyja is overcome with sudden nervousness as his eyes glare coldly at her.
"I needed to see you." She admits, making him scoff as he puts his hands behind his back and moves closer to her. Freyja stiffens, worried that he will get angry at her and he notices it, making him halt in his footsteps.
"You know the risk you're putting yourself in, by coming here. Even if my mother's illusions hide you, the risk is still there." Loki snarls, making her take in a deep breath as her body relaxes again.
"I know. It's a risk I'm willing to take." Freyja states firmly, and he once again scoffs as he turns to look at the other cells, where prisoners are held together in one. He was the only one with a more luxurious cell, probably thanks to Frigga. "Why are you being so cold to me? Have I done something wrong?"
"Why should I be kind to you? We are no longer lovers, it does not matter anymore." Loki says, making her close her eyes to hide her pain.
"But I still love you. Do you not love me anymore?" Freyja asks, as she reopens her eyes to watch his reaction. He turns back to face her, and a glare settles on his features.
"Love makes you weak." He snarls, making her take a step back in bewilderment.
"Does that make me weak? Does it mean I am the goddess of weakness?" She ponders, making him look down for a second. "Do I not mean anything to you anymore?"
"Nothing. You mean nothing to me." He says, as he wipes his hand across her illusion, making her reappear in her room. A tear rolls down her cheek and Frigga smiles sympathetically.
"Don't give up on him." Frigga says, as Freyja takes a step back and wipes her tear away.
"I think it's better if I do."
