Chapter 3
Why...why am I trudging forth? Why am I back to this fuckt up place? My heart is yearning to stride through these familiar streets again, and get a glimpse of the main house from afar. Am I hurting myself doing this? To be back here? What's so important that makes me come back to my worst nightmare? Right now, I'm literally entering hell.
I lifted my gaze from the street as I found myself outside the gates of the estate. Nothing felt good about standing outside like this, staring at the gates and walls I once escaped from. To basically meet my worst enemy eye to eye. In truth, I already felt chained and strangled just by looking at this shithole. So, why the hell did I allow myself come here?
*sigh*
I turned around, walking few steps away from the closed gate, glancing up at the starry night sky. The crescent moon shines brightly on the wide landscape below, illuminating everything in a pale bluish glow. A cold feeble wind blows repeatedly in the air, barely made movements in my long, black hair.
Suddenly the sound of heels caught my attention. I gaze aside, noticing a dark figure gradually coming closer from a shadow filled alley. I remain silent, until the person strolled into the moonlight. My eyes went wide, and my lips parted: "Rin?!"
She stares with a deadpan face, her hip long straight, jet-black hair elegantly moves with the feeble wind. That loose strands of hair freely framing her forehead, is very beautiful. She wears revealing - dark coloured clothes, which gives a gothic influence. Those dark brown eyes appears lost, and pained by a rough past.
She tilted her head up, "So you came back after all? Why?" Her voice is harsh and monotone. Of course, I know some of the shit she went through as a child, but now it seems it has gotten even worse.
I shrug, "I'm not sure myself."
Rin frowned, "Then get the hell outta here! Why the hell bother coming back when you don't want to be here?!"
My slender brows furrowed, "The fuck has gotten into you?! Of all people I thought you would understand!"
Rin started to yell, "WHAT IS IT TO UNDERSTAND?! YOU LEFT ME BEHIND LIKE YOU DIDN'T FUCKING CARE THE SLIGHTEST! WHY DID YOU LEAVE WITHOUT SAYING GOODBYE?!"
My eyes dilated briefly as I realized I never explained the reason why I left in the first place. Although, she along with few others knows how bad my mother treated me as a kid. How much pressure she put on me every day. How desperate, and determined she was to break me into pieces.
As I kept my mouth shut, Rin continued barking furiously, "YOU OF ALL PEOPLE SHOULD KNOW HOW MUCH SHIT I COULDN'T ESCAPE FROM! HOW MUCH I CRIED, AND PRAYED TO BE SAVED FROM THIS LIFE! THE WORST PART IS WHEN I NEEDED YOU THE MOST, YOU WERE FUCKING GONE!!"
Tears welled up in her eyes and by the looks of it, she didn't seem completely healthy. Something really bad must have happened while I was gone. But who scarred her this much? Was it my mother, or...father?
Her gaze dropped as tears spilled out, dripping down on the street like sparkling rain. Then she mumbled in between sobs, "Why....why did you leave....why didn't you come back...I...I needed you..."
"Rin..." I walked slowly closer to her in attempt to embrace her with a soothing hug. But before I could she pushed me away, quickly running off: "STAY AWAY!!"
Without further thinking, I ran after her: "Rin, wait! I will explain everything! Just calm down!" Right now, she didn't even register my words and kept running like a loose horse. Crying loud enough for me to hear it.
Rin ran further, and further into the dark forest. With me in her heels. Suddenly she slipped in mud, and rolled down a steep incline. Her head hits a tree, passing out before laying still on the ground. I jumped down, sliding towards her and kneels next to her, "Rin?! Hang in there, I'll get you somewhere safe!"
Gently moving my hands under her back and legs, I lifted her up in my arms and carried her through the forest, in search for aid. Then I noticed these long stairs leading further up into the woods, thinking: 'Is someone living here?'
I took the chance by following the stairs, in hope there was someone up here that could help Rin. After a short while, I could see a big Chinese house on top of the hill, with lights glimmering in the first floor. Weak shadows of people are moving back and forth inside the transparent sliding doors, and I start running to them: "Hey!! We need help!"
Before I could get close enough, a grey/whitish haired boy swung the door aside, "Oh, what happened to Rin?" He asked worried, simultaneously a orange haired boy, a shocked girl, and Shigure stares at me from behind the white haired boy.
I shook my head, snapping out of it: "Please help Rin! She tripped and fell badly in the woods!" Shigure looks at the white haired boy, "Help her with Rin, I'll call the doctor."
The boy nods and gestured me to come in, "Come on." Without hesitation I went hurriedly inside the house, the girl and the red haired boy immediately puts some warm blankets, and a pillow on the floor for Rin to lay on. I sit on my knees next to Rin, looking at her unconscious face. Wondering what she might have been through all these years.
Shigure came walking into the living room again, with a smile on his face, "The doctor is on his way, don't worry. Rin will be fine, ey." I gaze up at him, thinking: 'Man, he looks just the same as he did as a kid'
"Who are you anyway?" The red haired boy asked, as if he tried to be rude.
"A relative to Rin?" The grey haired boy added curiously, and damn he looks like a girl in the wrong body!
I tilt my head, looking at them at an angle, "And you are...?"
Shigure laughs, "Haha! They are a part of the Zodiac members, silly. Well, except the girl." He stops laughing and pointed at the two boys while announcing their names, "That's Kyo, the cat. Then there's Yuki, the rat." Before he could say the girl's name, she waved and grins brightly: "And I'm Tohru! Nice to meet you!"
I scanned their every feature, taking mentally pictures and nods: "Pleasure." I look back at Shigure, "I see you have been busy raising kids."
He laughs, and Kyo starts babbling angrily: "Oi! We're not his kids! Shouldn't you introduce yourself too? We're after all helping you, bitch!"
Yuki slaps Kyo, "Don't speak like that to our guest, damn idiot."
"Grrehh.."
I get up on my feet, "It's not that important. I'm not here to stay, I just wanted to make sure Rin was okay."
"The two of you are close then?" Yuki asked calmly, then the girl named Tohru mumbles mostly to herself: "She never mentioned.."
Shigure waved a hand, like it isn't something to meddle with: "Nah, don't be such a stick in the mood, Bubu. We are all friends here, right? Why don't you stay for a little while? Perhaps have a cup tea, ey?"
I clutched my forehead, almost embarrassed of the nickname that brought back too many memories, "Tgh...don't call me that..." suddenly, out of the blue, a man swung the side doors wide open and barged in with a suitcase.
"How is...!!" He froze the second our eyes met. My heart racing and my breath completely stolen, seeing the handsome face of the one person, I deep down craved to meet the most!
Hatori!
His purple eyes dilated. Lips parting. My name slipped out of his mouth in an unintentional whisper, "Blue?!"
