A/N: I do not have an updating schedule, nor will I. I'm mostly clocking out chapters in my notebook, and they are written in two days. My life is hectic, as I am in my second to last year of school, and I am also helping my parents with family issues. So, who knows when this will be updated next. Hope y'all are staying safe. (P.S. If you have caught onto the references that I am making with the chapter titles, have a virtual brownie or cookie)
She stood in front of a maze, a light fog hanging over the ground. The sky was dark and all around Vic was silence. A shiver ran up her spine, and Vic felt two presences behind her. Turning around slowly, her whole body on alert, she faced two men. Both were tall and lanky. One had spiky orange hair, wore all black, and held a staff. The other wore a wring masters uniform, had black hair, and one blue eye, the other indigo in colour. Darko and Ydris. Darko, the one with the staff, stepped forwards, a smirk dancing across his lips.
"Well, hello, Toria. It seems we meet again. And so soon too." He laughed lightly and circled Vic.
Ydris gave Vic his charming, signature smirk. "Well little dove, I must say I'm pleasantly surprised. The last time we spoke, you stripped me of my magic, then gave it back. You left before I could have a word."
The magician walked forwards, took Vic's hand in his own, and kissed it. Shivers ran down her spine at the feeling of his lips against her skin. He smirked up, knowing precisely what he was doing. "Yas, I hope there are no hard feelings about that." Vic turned her head to Darko. "As for you Darko, why am I here? What do you want?"
Darko stood in front of Vic, looking down at her. "I have an offer for you."
"And why would I take an offer from you? You have tried kidnapping me and you killed Elizabeth."
"This is war. Now, come back with me. Mr. Sands has an interest in you. This is an opportunity you shouldn't give up."
Vic scowled. This wasn't the first time she was approached about joining Dark Core, nor would it be the last. She huffed lightly. "No."
Darko looked at Vic in bemusement. Ydris let out a loud "Ha!" at the refusal. Both men looked at Vic curiously.
"Well my dear, I shall wee you again on the field of battle." With that, Darko's body faded.
Vic faced Ydris. "What about you? Why are you here?"
"Ah, my dear girl, that is a good question." He smirked down at her. "It appears as if though I may need you at my circus. Wouldn't you like that chance dove?"
She felt her face heat up as he stepped closer. Vic huffed lightly and glanced at him. "Why would you need me in your circus?"
"Think of it as a big break. Your debut and time to shine. It'd also be a favour to me."
"Let me guess. Payment for taking your magic?"
Ydris smiled devilishly at Vic. "Yas, exactly that! See, you are smarter than you believe!"
"I don't think I'm stupid, Ydris. I know I'm smart."
"No, but you've never guessed my intentions before."
Vic stared at him bemused. "No, I guess you're right on that."
Ydris' smile grew and he took a step back. "Oh, I've never heard you say I'm right before! It's a good feeling."
"Fine, I'll do one show for you. We'll speak about it later." She rolled her eyes. 'I need to find a way out of this one.' She thought bitterly. Then the weight of what she had just thought hit her. 'Did I just decide to break my word?"
"As you wish mon chèri." And with that, the magician disappeared in a puff of purple smoke. Minutes later, a distant voice called her name.
